During browsing around, I clicked on someone's profile.  Instead of going there, OKC gives me

"Sorry, we don’t have anyone by that name!"

If I search for them by name (immediately or hours later), they are there (and oddly, now shown as 'online') but again, if I click on their profile, "Sorry, we don’t have anyone by that name!".

What would cause this?  To my knowledge I've never visited their profile.  I've read blocking does not work this way.

Thoughts?  Is this some A-list feature they have?

If that person is gay or bi, they have the option of not being seen by people who are straight. Or they blocked you.

Are you guessing or know for sure?

It does not seem right as I am seeing them.

And I've specifically seen that is not how Blocking works.  Blocking just keeps me from messaging them, not from getting to their profile.

Theres a box that can be checked if gay or bi is selected. If you can see the profile, and they are not straight that's it. The lesbian defense shield.

Also, there's no limit to how many times you can disable and enable your profile

some people will disable and enable their profiles several times within a single day

Well, they are bi.  Maybe that is it.  It'd be nice if they didn't show in the initial search at all, but I guess they do.

It is definitely not the disabled profile bit.  You can check it back and forth seconds apart.  They show, but then "Sorry, we don’t have anyone by that name!" always.

Thanks.

I am wondering the same thing.  I am able to view others peoples profiles that say "bi" or "bisexual" which I have no idea why they write it two different ways, but one certain person I can't.  They don't know me, and I don't know them, there would be no reason to block each other, there is no reason why the "staff-robot" would say, " Sorry, we don’t have anyone by that name! " when they obviously exist.  I came upon this today when a friend told me to check out this profile they just were checking out, but to no avail, okc just told me that they don't have anyone by that name.

usually when you hide or block a person you can't even see their profile in the match feed, or anywhere else for that matter, so it doesn't make sense why that message would pop up.

I dunno, so far, after reading this forum, I haven't been given a good answer...

Hiding just means you can't see each other in searches or similar things.  If you search for their name directly or otherwise have a link (say, through one of their forum posts)' you'll still be able to read things just fine.

The invsible to straights thing is offered to everybody who ID's as bi/gay, and does just what it says.  Their profile won't show for you, and yours won't show for them.
