| LittleAzteca Nov 5, 2008 Let's see some hot polyamorous people! :D....Or is that an
oxymoron...? I'm really in the mood for snide remarks, and I
seriously want to see some good looking polyamorous people because
umm.... I haven't. Ever. I'm a bitch, I know. This is sort of meant
to offend, be amusing, and poke fun at stereotypes all at the same
time! Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it! Poly people: Don't get
all mad and uppity. Prove my pre-conceived notion wrong plz! Oh,
also, attacking me is stupid, because a.) I realize my flaws! b.) I
know I am an intolerant fascist already! c.) I personally don't
believe I'm closed minded, so it doesn't matter if you tell me so!
d.) you can talk in detail about how hideous I am, or about how
awful my personality is, and it won't change anything because my
self esteem has hit rock bottom already.:D

| BiggestCockEver Nov 5, 2008 Stop being defensive and start exploring the logical premise. It's
quite simple. Example: Paul Newman was asked why he stayed faithful to his wife for 60-65 years that they were married. He answered: "Why go out for hamburger when you've got steak at home?" There is your answer. Go to some swingers club orgy, a thousand strangers all fucking and sucking each other, how many of them are going to be top-rank in attractiveness? Anyone that attractive can be more selective, and why wouldn't they be? Those who have to resign themselves to taking what they can get, usually there is a reason for lowered standards. If you do see a few exceptional looking swinger/poly's, my bet would be that most of the time they are either 1. Drug/alcohol addicts 2. Mental cases, probably survivors of severe abuse 3. Carriers of veneral diseases.
| LittleAzteca Nov 5, 2008 I like the way you think. Also, bluntness is appreciated and
welcomed. You have a point about me being over-defensive. Guess
it's cause I'm into some non-conventional things, and I tend to run
into strictly polyamorous and promiscuous people, and it's starting
to become a fucking archetype. I feel threatened, and alone. 3: ...
It's kinda like "GTFO mai scene. D:< " Although, I guess it's
stereotyped as their scene...Oops. :}
| |
| Emon9 Nov 5, 2008 People?...Stereotyping? nahhhhhhhh, I don't believe it!!
| |
| LittleAzteca Nov 5, 2008 I'm sorry, guys....I'm just a little...No, I'm really high right
now.
| |
| BiggestCockEver Nov 5, 2008 I think I can relate to what you're saying. For me, I'm somewhat
"radical" in my political views, but that doesn't mean I condone
drug use or believe drugs should be legalized. So I find myself in
an adversarial position when talking to stereotypical political
leftists, and have been called a fascist for not endorsing
legalization of drugs. Even OkCupid has slapped a "Less Socially
Free" cartoon on me. Oh, well, there you go. Guess you'll be calling me a fascist in a minute or so .. .
| 1BigL Nov 5, 2008 I am NOT going to call you a facist just so I can make you WRONG!
So there, how about that? ^^What are you high on?
| |
| Skinnygirl Nov 5, 2008 ^^^^hot and polyamorous ...there! I proved your preconceived notion
wrong ^^^facist ^^contrary ^trollin'
| 1BigL Nov 5, 2008 "contrary"...and your point? Be nice to me!
| |
| BiggestCockEver Nov 5, 2008 Not necessarily, Skinny. In MY hypothesis, I proposed 3 instances
in which physically attractive people might be found among the
polys. 1. Drug/alcohol users 2. Mental cases/abuse survivors 3.
Carriers of veneral diseases. Now, you may not be a mental case or a druggie/alcky, but the longer you play this game of roulette the greater the odds that sooner or later you will become a carrier of venereal disease. The odds of course are dependent on the degree of your behaviors as well.
| trish6912 Nov 5, 2008 I'm only here to say...... I choose not to participate in this thread. | |
| ineffable01 Nov 5, 2008 Uhm. Standard deviation. Bell curve. Those come into play just like
any group of people. Since polyfolk are a small sample, the
standard deviation will appear skewed, but it's still there. In
other words, the bulk of polyfolk will be average looking, a
percentage will be less attractive, and more attractive, a small
percentage will be ugly and cute, and a very small percentage will
be hideous and hot hot hot. Just like people who aren't in that
life style. Also, it's not a game of roulette as BCE says. That's a false and deceptive analogy. First, not all poly people run around and have sex with as many partners as they can. Second, those that do again fall into the bell curve category. Some will do it without protection, some will, etc etc. The analogy itself is faulty because it can be applied to non-poly people as well. In addition, roulette is purely a game of chance; there is no stopping where the ball falls. With sex, you can use protection and other counter-measures to decrease the chance of STD.
| bornyesterday Nov 5, 2008 polyamorous people will be attractive in the same general
proportions as the rest of the population
| |
| zbey_uk Nov 5, 2008 Trish,coughcoughTRISHcough coughTRISH cough. And don't even try to
deny that she is one hot hot lady.
| |
| hugehank Nov 5, 2008 There is a line around Pittsburgh to meet Trish; nuff said.
| |
| Emon9 Nov 5, 2008 The correct answer was given by ineffable...
| |
| sadie_foxy_lady Nov 5, 2008 Maybe Trish's husband isn't hot and that is the answer! Maybe it's
not the poly people that are ugly but their spouses! *ponders*

| 1BigL Nov 5, 2008 1. The practice, state or ability of having more than one sexual
loving relationship at the same time, with the full knowledge and
consent of all partners involved. (This is the definition used by
California polyamorist Morning Glory Zell, who coined the term in
the early 1980's.) 2. A form of relationship involving more than
two people. The relationships may be symmetrical (like a triangle),
or something more complex. The relationships may also be open or
closed, straight or gay, or a mixture. A purely heterosexual form
of polyamorous marriage was once practiced among the Tibetans: each
man had many wives, and each woman had many husbands. This raises
the possible of your brother also being your husband-in-law-in-law.
3. In its most basic form, it is defined as honest consensual
non-monogamy. While some decline to allow that Swinging is part of
PolyAmory, the basic definition still applies. You will find,
though, that there are as many definitions of PolyAmory as there
are people practicing it. PolyAmory must have as a basic more than
2 people in the relationship. Not all participants need be involved
with every other participant, nor is co-housing a requirement.

| Kurlumbenus Nov 5, 2008 I'm pretty hot.
| |
| Selchie Nov 5, 2008 I do not agree with Borne. I don't think using a general population
sampling to extrapolate these kind of statistics is valid. I don't
think the criterion for a valid construct will exist in the average
population.
