music, you give atheists a bad name, by always mocking religious people. So same type of thing. Makes it where all atheists are labeled that way. Granted, 99% of atheists DO act that way, but still.

^ I'm not saying that carnivores don't have any guilt, but really that guilt is minimal, since farm animals live long lives and are slaughtered painlessly, and it's not like we order specific animals to be killed for our consumption, like you would at a seafood restaurant where you point to a lobster in a tank and say "that one".

Allow me to put my self-righteous vegetarian hat on for a moment, but I can't resist pointing out that farm animals don't live "long lives" at all. Unless you think 8-14 weeks is a long time (in the case of chickens, which have a natural lifespan of 10 years) or 3 to 6 months (in the case of pigs, natural lifespan of 15 years). Nothing we eat gets to live much longer than a year. Except cows, the "lucky" ones, they get to live 1 or 2 years but that's only because they take longer to grow and it's a far cry from a natural life span of 25 years. But to be honest, if I lived in some of the conditions that farm animals are kept in, I'd welcome an early death.

As to being "slaughtered painlessly", failure to properly stun an animal can result in continued consciousness and prolonged pain.

Sanctimonious rant over.

Anyway, if Mayo wanted to call me out as a hypocrite, he'd point out that I've been veggie for 13 years and I still haven't become a vegan. I do feel a bit like a hypocrite. But I love a cheese omelette, so what's a guy to do?

I don't find that rant to be one of a self righteous vegetarian -that sounds like someone who knows the ins and outs of the farming industry and the harsh conditions for animals involved in commercial farming.

Eat dick you fucking lunatic. If I eat a berry, I won't kill the whole berry bush. It doesn't take a whole fucking life.

That's probably true. I don't know why I never examined my assumption that they basically live full lives.

Yes, but the manner in which a berry is eaten is completely and totally different, not killing the WHOLE life, a completely sustainable process--berries fall off the branches soon after they've riped, dumbass.

^I know why. It's because you're an ignorant turd.

here is a lovely recipe for hummous for all the wonderful vegetarians on this thread, like temporaryvisas who strongly defends the poor animals and wolpinger who knows a great deal about the situation.

hummous is a perfect food.  easy to make, full of protein and tastes great with many different foods.  everytime I make this stuff it is usually gone in a couple days.

  • 1 15 ounce can chickpeas, drained
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 3/4 tsp garlic salt

obviously you simply blend these ingredients.

YAY for vegetarians.

haha. self righteous music ignored me. That's a good way to help your case..... not. Admit your mistake and be a better person or you're just being a hypocrite.

Such is life that organisms consume other organisms; one must die for another to live. Fear not, the end is met by each of those who consume. Death is fair to all.

Whether you're a carnivore, an omnivore or a herbivore, doesn't matter, but you ought to appreciate the food you're having. Don't take it for granted. Respect the sacrifice it has made.

Also, spend your energy on focusing on your nutrition, not a stranger's.

If science was very useful, there would be no death. But they don't accomplish much in the long run.

Following that thought pattern, nothing is useful and everything is pointless because "death". Often it feels that way too, sure! But still, various things drive us to do stuff and explore the world (including science) anyway, no? One evidence of the uselessness of science certainly is the fact that science allowed us write about how useless it is on the internet. :)

Yep, the mature way to debate is to ignore those who are right, huh? ha. Typical liberal. Everyone must agree with them. liberals are a walking example of constant self righteousness.

Of course you do. The deluded can't live in fairy tale land if they listen to the right.
