why do you think Obama won?

Nov 12, 2012 2:25pm

"If they considered him not a Christian they would've voted for him even more because liberals love bashing Christians, since they're jealous of them."

I voted for #5. Despite whatever grains of truth there may be in mayo's comment, Romney's version of Christianity is so whacky that even regular Christians are likely to deride it.

To the extent that some liberals do enjoy bashing Christianity, among other things, jealousy is almost never the motivation. Resentment perhaps, but not jealousy.

p.s. many liberals are Christians. Unitarians being merely one flaming example.

The country got tired of being treated as ignorant by the neo-cons and their Rovian politics.

Is that what your truther Overlord has been telling you?

Nov 12, 2012 5:00pm

More Americans are affected by the current state of affairs of this country then not.

Obama is more in touch with the average American is struggles...

...unlike Romney with his "silver spoon on mouth" mentality.

Nov 12, 2012 5:42pm

^ hahahahahahahahahahaha. indeed. his CONSTANT mingling with jay-z, samuel l. jackson, etc... does indeed get him to feel what the average eprson goes through.

Nov 13, 2012 1:11am

Rigfht here is all you need to know. the dems keep claiming Obama wona nd that it was due to all these people hating republican policy blah blah blah. In reality the republicans had plenty of people to get them a win, but the problem is THEY STAYED HOME. Always hilarious when dems spin something into a big deal about policy and pretend that the majority of the country sides with them, when in reality it all came down to obama's community oprganizer skills he learned when not doing his job as senator and thus knowing how to bus in tons of homeless people to vote for him. SO if the republicans do need to change anything, it's just that they ened to bus in more rich people. LESS THAN WHO VOTED FOR MCCAIN showed up. So the problem was not with anything other than the republicans themselves and I can't be included in that group, as I voted. That's the one area the republicans HAVE failed in both elections is that they ahven't been as slick and sneaky and manipulative as the left has and they suck with technology.

yes, they both grew up more or less poor and made something of themselves unlike silver spoon Romney going to prep schools and beating up on gay kids.

Also they're both super HOT! I'd sooner hang out with them any day moreso than Mittens Rmoney

Nov 13, 2012 2:13am

Yep, Obama sure has helped the rest of the black community. That's why their unemployment rate, poverty rate, etc... are the worset EVAR.

Nov 13, 2012 3:00am

You have to give the democrats credit for the excellent work they did in the battleground states.

Nov 13, 2012 4:13am

The other reason I think the Republicans lost, even with Obama's unpopularity. Is they always seem to go off message.

If they had gone with a candidate like Ron Paul who has a solid track record of focusing on the economy (which was the key to winning the election) they could have nailed it.They should have stayed focused on the economy. Right at the end of the last election the astroturf machine took over the tea party and laid down so much ground work turning that into a base for reelection. And then didn't use it. Romney didn't appeal to vast sections of his own party and didn't fit in with the rhetoric they'd spent the past 3 years since their loss in 2008 spewing out.

Instead half way through the campaign they let the Democrats bait them into talking about non issues like gay marriage and abortion and government subsidised birth control. Which are issues of personal choice, and minefield talking points where they is no good way out. The government shouldn't even be involved in policy on those things and nobody in their right mind should be talking about them.

At the end of that election the Republicans were completely fragmented and off message. Even with the high levels of fraud on both sides and Obama's fail over the past 4 years they lost because they had no clear platform or message.

I'm so incredibly sick of people referring to gay marriage rights as a non-issue...

Nov 13, 2012 4:51am

^As am I.

Listen, The Republicans had a golden opportunity to win this election by campaigning on economics.  Instead, they campaigned on social issues.  From gay rights to women's rights they positioned themselves as the party of 'no' against these.  They alienated the Hispanic vote by pushing for the forcible expulsion of illegal immigrants.  The ship has long since sailed on these issues.  Either the Republicans get with the program, or they join the list of failed parties along with their conservative predecessors the WHIG party and the Federalists.

These are issues the Republicans cannot win on.  If they can't manage a win with these issues in a perfect storm against the incumbent, they can't win, period.

I'm so incredibly sick of people referring to gay marriage rights as a non-issue...

It is a non issue. As someone who isn't gay and has no stance on gay marriage. Why should gay marriage policies or lack thereof effect my life?

I don't care either way. I don't think it's a matter for the government to be involved in and I don't think it has any place aside matters of economics and war, taxation, healthcare and jobs. Real problems that effect a nation as a whole.

It only directly effects a small percentage of the population.

Nov 13, 2012 5:17am

I don't think it's a matter for the government to be involved in

Nor do I. But they are involved - as in they are taking away the rights of millions of gay americans. That's why it matters to me. Tons of people who thought the slavery issue was an issue weren't black - they just weren't bad people.

Nov 13, 2012 5:27am

It's one of those things that is highly divisive and will always piss somebody off. As soon as Obama came out in support of gay marriage the Republicans should have said "I don't care about gay marriage, but Obama's economic miss management has made it harder for the millions of Americans that are already married to find work" or something along those lines.

Nov 13, 2012 5:54am

Just because something doesn't affect me doesn't mean I shouldn't be appalled by it. I have a driver's license but was very upset about the voter suppression tactics the GOP run PA state government was trying to do also.

Nov 13, 2012 7:11am

Is that what your truther Overlord has been telling you?

That's what your overlord said, underling.

Nov 13, 2012 2:16pm

Oh noes, music is upset that people won't live in her fantasy world where unnatural atcs are not praised. And some idiot saying it's considered natural because 1% of ANIMALS do it are mighty retarded. Something isn't suddenly natural just because more than one thing does it. What loons. And, belial, if you lived here where you would have constant exposure to the emdia, you would see nearly EVERY form of media tried to shut romney up and hide things from the people. It's not that Romney got off message, it's that the emdia is partisan and not professional journalists, so they HIDE the message. The onlty time the emdia ever even mentioned Romney was when it was something that would help Obama, which is really sickening. The country has become totally government run, including the emdia, just as the left has always wanted. Then they actually want to SHUT DOWN fox news because it doesn't go along with their propoganda. Pathetic and unconstitutiaonal.

Cut the crap Miss-Music, you are a lesbian. You have been living with another lesbian for so long you think that you are married. She is a graduate student who does not have a taxable income.

Now if they got rid of DOMA and made gay marriage legal in your state, you could marry her and file your income tax with her jointly. If the IRS considered you 2 to be a couple, you could file jointly and the tax would be based on your income, and her lack of one, so you could save like $1500.

Besides, if you were a patriot you would have capitalized the word "Americans"

So c'mon admit it, you are a gay bleeding heart liberal who hates America.

Nov 13, 2012 6:51pm

Because Americans didn't want Willard Romney running this country.

Nov 13, 2012 7:15pm

I guess nicholas is saying most people are stupid. Any sane person would rather a successful businesman get a shot at it than someone who already has a track record proving he's a failure. Bush worked with the other party INFINITY more times than Obama's 0.
