Classic: Clash - White Man (In Hammersmith Palais)

Modern: Against Me! - Walking Is Still Honest

Saw an Operation Ivy bumper sticker the other day, it was awesome as hell. I'd have to say "Sound System" is definitely my favorite Op Ivy song though.

It could be one of these, too:

  • "Johnny Hit and Run Pauline" by X
  • "99 to Life" by Social Distortion
  • "Rock and Roll Nigger" by Patti Smith

This might be the hardest question ever. Here are a couple of suggestions:

.Fearless Vampire Killers - Bad Brains

.I Want To Conquer the World - Bad Religion

.Kabuki Girl - Descendents

.Video Prick - Deep Wound

.Well Paid Scientist - Dead Kennedys

.Ashtray - Screeching Weasel

.Love Song - The Damned

Damn, so many...

I guess The Clash - White Riot just nips into first place for me.

Honorable mentions, take your pick -

Stiff Little Fingers - Fly The Flag, Suspect Device, Wasted Life

Dead Kennedys - Holiday In Cambodia, California Uber Alles... dammit, pretty much the whole first album.

Sex Pistols - Anarchy In The UK, Pretty Vacant

The Adverts - Gary Gilmores Eyes

Black Flag - Rise Above

The Damned  - Neat Neat Neat

Remarkable - excellent Ramones call, as it happens I love the Stranglers like the brothers I never had, and one of my favourite bands of all time - but I guess I don't really consider them punk as such, they just happened to become known and successfull at the same time. Their version of the classic Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach/Hal David song Walk On By is probably the best/most  inspired cover ever recorded, possibly bar Jimi Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower.
