I really do think you should be worried, at least for a bit, about this river here

it really is threatening to take over this whole apartment

who knows... it could spread down the block and suddenly

it could even engulf the whole east coast

not that it would be much of a loss

but still, you should probably worry about it for a few minutes or so

stage one is completed

now finishing the river and about to proceed to painting

Had some nice variety recently - fantasy (glorantha based Dragon Pass), SF (Struggle for the Galactic
Empire), Epic Civilization scope (7 Ages), and just started some strategic WWII (Unconditional Surrender).

jeez you must be really good at wargaming, given such wide experience

learning how to win so many kinds of conflicts must help with winning each one

I stick to one or two kinds of games.

I am making a second three-dimensional wargame board, of ten layers of cardboard glued together

the last one I made, I ruined it by planting too many trees.  the tanks couldn't maneuver at all

three months of work down the drain from over-enthusiasm

Nah. I don't spend enough effort on any one system (or even era) to be good at any.

Winning isn't a big goal for me - it's understanding the models, and watching the story evolve.

why should I go to some huge convention?

I like to play wargames in the peace and quiet of my own apartment

I wont even go over to someone else's house

sigh, I normally wargame alone

Getting to test prototypes, chat with the luminaries in the hobby, good prices on games, enough
room to play some of the real monsters, and opponents.

I'm reclusive as hell usually, but having a blast.

alright, I'm jealous

I wish I could go to something like that around here

"can you recommend a good modern, tactical, armored wargame that can be played by e-mail for free?"

Ancient question I know, but have you tried Steel Panthers?

http://www.spwaw.com/

It's the best modern (WWII to today) armored wargame I've ever found that can be played via email.  It's also completely free.

Now if someone will just port it over to Android.

I'm downloading the main file right now and cant wait to see what happens

hope it works!

normally I stick to miniatures but this might be fun too

thanks for the link, gloves

Ill let you know what happens

Basically Steel Panthers is just like playing with miniatures but having the computer do all the score keeping and dice rolling.

nothing happened when I opened the downloaded file

oh well, back to this big, three-dimensional small-scale map of a part of pennsylvania

I am almost about to start making the river

thanks for trying, fetish gloves, I do appreciate it

I gather you mean after installing the game file and three patches you get nothing but a black screen?

Here is the fix for a Windows 7 PC:

http://spwaw.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23047

Just follow the directions and it will run just fine.

I had completely forgotten about this necessary step, sorry.

The game comes with 344 solitaire scenarios.  Plus play by email. Plus major campaigns.

yeah, these iMacs are a mixed blessing

they never break or slow down or get infected but they cant take on the broad range of windows games

if you ever hear of a good wargame which is free for macs, do let me know

thanks again for trying

I tell you, making a three-dimensional wargame board makes you feel like some supernatural creature who can create whole worlds
