| GeekMagi Feb 5, 2010 Legally I'm Latino . I think that says how absurd race is as an identifier. Everyone gets to pick their race to a certain extent. You can't change your skin color or but you can change how other people see you because if I saw myself as Latino I could probably make other people see me that way. One of my grandparents is from Chile one is half German and half a bunch of "races" including Native North American one is mostly Irish the last is full Irish. I tend to look more like the whiter grandparents. If I had a tan I might look like the darker grandparents but my hair would bleach but I could die it.
I think of myself as white, when I fill out a form I usually just check that one box but I reasonably could check three.
| luvablelyd Feb 5, 2010 I dont think it matters at all....as long as they are a cool person that i'm attracted to.... | |

Like someone else has pointed out, those numbers add up to > 100%, and regardless of the source, cannot be trusted at face value. I do not deny that there is a bias towards fair skin, but I do question if the size of the bias is large enough to be a significant concern. It might be that the latinos are being counted as Caucasians (which they partially are), and someone is confusing white for latino. If that is the case (that leaves only 2% unaccounted for - the sum would be 98% - so let us augment the "other" category by 2%), the over-representation of Caucasians would be to the tune of 10%. Not tiny, but I doubt if that is significant.

I looked at the links you provided, especially the one you pointed at - the one where "white" people's reaction was less negative towards minorities that less strongly identified with their communities. There are multiple problems with those studies. For starters, the specific contention would be true for most people looking at certain racial / ethnic groups. I mean, if I knew a "white" person strongly identified with the idea of "whiteness" and wore KKK logos, I would be uncomfortable around that person (given that such people usually are racially motivated). The same would apply with an AA guy who sported black panther logos. But that might not be as true if a Chinese-American guy ate at only Chinese restaurants, and attended Shaolin kung fu class. Second, they studied only AAs and latinos (I mean are these social "scientists" blind to the fact that there are other minorities that exist - what kind of a scientist looks at a graph with two points and says - "Oh, what do you know, they lie in a straight line !" ?). In the US at least, these two communities have the lowest levels of economic advancement / educational achievement (that is just a fact). So, how do they remove any pure racial feeling, from a class-related issue, especially given the stereotypes ? They can't, because apparently in academic social science "research" (if it can be dignified by that name), you basically have people wasting research dollars while acting like six blind men around an elephant. I somehow doubt that the reactions would have been equally strong if they had looked at Asians or Indians, who equally strongly identified with their respective communities. Regarding your last link, I have to admit that talking about race makes me uncomfortable (but I do enjoy this exchange since there is an argument involved here - and my love of argument is greater than any distaste for the topic). I personally think that while there are racial/ethnic correlations in lots of things, and bias / prejudice exist (and not just among "white" people), far too many politicians, "academics" and "thinkers" spend too much time obsessing about it (and only about certain kinds of biases - while others, like the very strong AA-latino racial/ethnic issue is quietly swept under the carpet). In my opinion, economic class is a much bigger divide in the American society, especially given the decreased social mobility due to the accelerating loss of the productive base of the economy since the mid 90s. And yes, US culture is globally exported and that is poor argument for changing the representation of people in it. It grew up and still thrives in a certain cultural mileu. An art form cannot be expected to simply acquire artificial characteristics just because its marketing has been a runaway success. I mean, do you seriously expect Hollywood to put one Indian and one Chinese in every group of 6 actors, because that is roughly the breakdown of world population ? That argument would equally well apply to the much bigger Bollywood which is also becoming a global force nowadays. However, I am yet to hear anyone seriously suggest that they should give up the long dance and song sequences and gaudy costumes (though it would make watching the otherwise largely plotless and predictable Bollywood movies bearable for me - there are honourable exceptions to this, but those movies I consider good almost never seem to do well at the Indian box office.).
| latinomigs Feb 6, 2010 I have no preference, any color or creed will do. However, I will say that my only success with women on OKC so far, has been with women of color. Not sure what to make of that. | |
| Lamp14 Feb 6, 2010 I have been in relationships and had relations with women of many ethnicity's and races and am totally open to it all. You never know were youl find love and its always refreshing to get different perspectives of different people. And every one shows there affection differently. | |
| rookiephenom Feb 6, 2010 I grew up around diversity, so I don't have any racial preference in the women I date. Love knows no boundaries, but rather the approach, personality, and the chemistry of the girl I meet. On here, I feel alright talking to women of all ethnicities, so I guess I'm not zoned out in that regard (not as much as I would think). | |
| Lannagorawr Feb 6, 2010 I'd like to start off by saying i like your face :) so it's all good Personally for me, I'm already mixed. So I've kind of been taught that it doesn't matter what race you are if you like someone you like someone. But I'm mostly interested in white guys. But that's NEVER stop me from replying to all sorts of different people. It's pretty much how you were raised which affects your judgement of people | |
| downwithbliss Feb 10, 2010 elle_fiasca, you asked for honesty. Now you can't handle it lol. xJealousOrchard I have standards. That doesn't make me a slut. You need therapy, girl. | |
| xJealousOrchard Feb 10, 2010 ^ Great job failing at reading comprehension you fucking cunt. You have no clue what I said, do you? Kill yourself. I'm gonna post it one more time, so everyone else can see what an idiot you are:
Right. You are the one saying shit like this:
And IM the one who needs therapy? Jesus Fucking Christ I hope you are a troll.
In order for you to even MAKE such an outlandish statement, you would have had to personally fuck hundreds upon hundreds of Indian and Asian men. While the odds of you being a whore are pretty good, I highly doubt you have done this. You are an imbecile who bases their "facts" on stereotypes, plain and simple. Fuck, I should not even be wasting my time trying to reason with you, as you are most likely a troll. No teacher can be THIS FUCKING idiotic, it's depressing even to think about.
| Davileo Feb 11, 2010 I guess it all depends where you live. For me, I live in Seattle area and the majority of females around here are either bi ( I dunno why they dont just say gay cuz they want nothing to do with guys at all) or emo rocker type. Im not saying there is anything wrong with that at all. Its just that those girls are either looking for fellow bi girls or the emo rocker Kurt Cobain type guys that wear skinny jeans with no room for their sack. That or the Abercrombie Team Jacob type of guys. So ofcourse I have no luck on this site at all. I love all kinds of females Im not picky I message girls of all types all the time but since I live in the Seattle area Im shit outta luck. And to make it worse ethnic girls around here only like white guys. So even if I message ethnic girls I still dont get a response. All I get is messages from ghetto fat white girls that like black dudes. And Im not even black. Not trying to sound stereotypical or anything but its just whats been happening to me. Maybe I would have better luck if I lived in Cali or NYC or somethin. But as far as Seattle goes this site is just a waste of time for me. I would delete my account but I will keep it just in case I get bored. Its fun to browse around once in a while and read ppls funny forum posts. | |
| TomboyTina Feb 11, 2010 I am kind of going to reiterate what someone else said. I think race does play a role in how interested I am in someone initially, but I wouldn't not reply based upon race. I would definetly carry on a conversation and see where things went. I'd even meet up and if the chemistry isn't there, than at least I end up with a new friend! | |
| downwithbliss Feb 11, 2010
I don't need to fuck half the men (or 4" half men lol) to find out what I know srsly. I like black guys. (Not girls lol).

LEMME SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU, YOU CUNT-FACED CUMBUCKET BITCH."WHAT YOU KNOW" IS AN OPINION BASED ON STEREOTYPES AND SOME PICTURE YOU'VE SEEN ON THE INTERNET.IN ORDER FOR YOU TO MAKE THE STATEMENT "ALL INDIAN AND ASIAN MEN HAVE SMALL DICKS, HERP DERP" YOU WOULD HAVE HAD TO FUCK HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF INDIAN AND ASIAN MEN, VERIFIED THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM HAD TINY DICKS, AND THEN MAYBE YOU COULD POSSIBLY MAKE A VALID CASE AS TO WHY YOU THINK ALL INDIAN AND ASIAN MEN HAVE SMALL PENISES. IT'S CALLED STATISTICS.YOU DON'T FUCKING "KNOW" ANYTHING FOR SURE UNLESS YOU'VE DONE THAT.IF I WANTED TO SAY, "OH, I DON'T EAT GRANNY SMITH APPLES BECAUSE THEY ALL HAVE WORMS IN THEM. I MEAN, ONE TIME I BIT INTO ONE AND THERE WAS A WORM IN IT, PLUS MY FRIEND SAID THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER SISTER ONE TIME. SO OBVIOUSLY ALL GRANNY SMITH APPLES HAVE WORMS IN THEM. I KNOW SRSLY." I WOULD BE A COMPLETE FUCKING IDIOT BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY I COULD MAKE THAT KIND OF STATEMENT UNLESS I BIT INTO HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF GRANNY SMITH APPLES AND EACH AND EVERY G O D D A M N E D ONE OF THEM HAD WORMS IN THEM.HOW FUCKING IMBECILIC CAN YOU BE, GODFUCKINGDAMNIT. I AM GOING TO FUCKING MURDER YOU IN YOUR SLEEP.
| littlebitsofluv Feb 11, 2010 So if we're going to be honest... I've dated about every race but right now I strongly favor white guys. I reply to more white guys, which seems to be 85% of the guys messaging me anyways. I live in the San Francisco, Bay Area so it's pretty culturally diverse and interracial dating is everywhere. In the past I went through phases where I mostly liked one race of guys, but it changes all the time. So I would say yes, race plays a pretty big role in who I reply to but in a few years it might be another race... | |
| downwithbliss Feb 11, 2010 xJealousOrchard. You bite into a zillion green apples to prove that they are not that sweet lol ? Does it bother you that I like black men ? There is plenty to go around. | |
| xJealousOrchard Feb 11, 2010 ^ Hey cunt; I am going to your house tonight. And I'm going to slit your little throat. Because people as stupid as you are should not exist on the planet. You do not understand the concept of statistics, and you do not understand the concept of not being a moron. YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT AND A WASTE OF SPACE.The example I gave had NOTHING TO DO with apples being sweet, it was whether or not said apples had a defect. TL;DR - YOU'RE A MORON AND YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING I AM SAYING EVEN AS I TYPE THIS VERY SENTENCE.Lolololol, way to project your frustrations at comprehending my superior logic into; "LOL U R JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE I SUCK AND FUCK ALL THE NEGROES HERP DERP DERRRR"

| meowsmalls Feb 11, 2010 Deffiently would not reject a person by their race, but personality! c : | |
| symphony_noir_ Feb 11, 2010 Ummm. Indian guys (brown guys in general) tend to have larger
penises than average. Ask chicks that are into brown dudes.
Downwithbliss is kind of an idiot. Jealousorchard obviously knows
from experience...

I dont mind a person's race but I will say those with a culturally diverse background strike my fancy as being interesting, for sure. Race doesn't really occur to me unless a person of said race is keeping to some silly stereotype for approval. (i.e. black guys like rap and thusly have demo CDs, Mexican guys have to keep 'machismo' and be emotionally void) I feel that if one feels they have to act a certain way because of the color of their skin or to be socially accepted by the standards set by their peers then that's not who you are.
I find it different, however, to be proud of your heritage and culture. I think that is awesome. I learned a lot from dating a Croatian guy, a Vietnamese chick, a French woman, etc.
