Ok I have answered all the improve match questions, but I am still able to answer more. How many are there really? I've passed the 3767 that they say are active. Am I answering questions that havn't gone active yet? Why do they do this?

It's because they've retired a lot of the older, sucky ones, but they still count as being answered. Looking on "My Questions" page says there are 3841.

Yeah, I've answered 3807 out of the 3772 that are currently active. They just retire old/stupid questions after awhile when they come out with more new ones.

I've answered 4032, but I've seen somebody at 4800+ questions answered. Unfortunately some of the new ones they answered are just as stupid as the ones they retire.

As of this post there are exactly 103010 questions.

The reason there are more questions than 'data base' questions is because users write questions that arent always added into the data base, those user questions are still valid and you can answer them. Im unsure about any personality award values given to non-data base questions, though im doubtful theres any. Once youve answered (or skipped) every question in the data base you can vote on other user questions to be added in.

To see all questions simply load the url http://www.okcupid.com/questions/ask?rqid=103010 and change the values at the end, they go in numerical order.

Apparently you can only answer 20,001 questions total, regardless of how many questions are on the site.   I tried answering more than that, but the system won't save any more of the questions or answers.

Since there doesn't seem to be a way to delete select questions that you've already answered, you're stuck with any question that you've already answered unless you clear them all.  I'm not going to do that.

So if you want to answer the maximum amount possible, and have all quality questions, you'll need to skip the stupider ones that don't make much sense.

Actually, you don't wanna go around trying to beat a record of how many questions you can answer. You wanna instead, try only answering questions that are important to you, and more specifically, questions which answer by the potential match would make a significant difference to you, so you can narrow down matches more precisely. For instance, I would not go out with a girl who answered a question about "Whether you would have to wait until marriage to have sex" with "yes". So then, I answer that question with "No" and I specify that it is "Mandatory" that whoever answers that question, also says no.

In other words, try avoiding silly pointless questions, which answer don't make a difference to you at all. Things like "Have you ever dreamt about unicorns?" or whatever question doesn't make a significant difference for you to decide if you'd date that person.

When you follow that procedure, the number of questions you answer are obviously diminished by a lot, but it helps you narrow down potential good matches. The more critical the question is for you, the better. Ideally, you would only answer questions where you have such a clear and strong opinion, that the person's answer would be the determining factor for you to date them at all.

Yup. Actually makes sense.

I would not go out with a girl who answered a question about "Whether you would have to wait until marriage to have sex" with "yes".

Figures. Boinkmonster.

Since there doesn't seem to be a way to delete select questions that you've already answered, you're stuck with any question that you've already answered unless you clear them all.

I don't think so. If you find the question, I think you usually, if not always, have the option to Re-answer it, where you do change your answer. Or even change your answer to "Skip" which presumably would remove it from your list of questions answered.

  • "It's because they've retired a lot of the older, sucky ones."
  • "They just retire old/stupid questions after awhile when they come out with more new ones."

  • "Apparently you can only answer 20,001 questions total, regardless of how many questions are on the site."

Most of the newer questions suck worse and worse the newer they get.

There are 20,001 questions, allegedly, but of those 20,001 probably 10,001 completely fucking suck my big fat donkey's dick. Of the remaining 10,000, 6,000 are idiotic, 2,000 are pointless, and 1,500 are ridiculous.

Of 20,001 questions, maybe 500 at most are even worth answering at all, even if merely by marking them as Irrelevant.

It's pretty amazing that Arwen has answered 20,001 questions. Think about it. That's A LOT of questions. She's one dedicated OKC-er.

I like the advice of Kair on this, to only answer the questions you feel strongly about, and which you would have strong or mandatory answers desired in reply. Makes sense. I'm going to try that.

The large majority of the questions are useless to me. I don't care if someone smokes or drinks or is a virgin or whatever. It doesn't matter to me. I only have like 5 or 6 dealbreakers, the rest is just fluff.

Actually retired questions don't *count*.

I had over 2,000 public questions, and slightly over 2,200 total. I know this for a fact because I mentioned it in a message I sent someone a few years back.

If you were to compare our answers today, you'll see this

  • You publicly answered

    1965 questions

  • You answered

    1990 questions
