Mobile is the way to go. Just look at how Facebook and MySpace are doing with their mobile apps. Freaking success really.

I get this site on my G1 in all its glory. The only thing that doesn't work too well are those pesky IMs. But those things suck anyway.

Don't have a mobile phone. Do have touch tone, though. That could work, right? Dial 1 for the nice guy thread, 2 for would you date me, 3 for the goth thread, 4 for the poly thread, ...

Seriously though, is it still fine (to people over 30) not to have one, or does it seem strange now?

I would love to see an OkCupid iPhone application. I use my iPhone to look at okcupid and when I touch the screen sometimes I accidentally click a link I don't want. That would be very convenient.

iPhones suck. Blackberries are the way to go. I can see this site just fine from my Blackberry pearl.

The site works reasonably well on the iPhone, but it's pretty heavy on the scripting, so it's not as fast and usable as an iPhone-specific page would be. I sent a message to OKC a few months ago about this, but didn't get a response (not surprising).

BloodElf: Have you used an iPhone?

Bump for a native iPhone application with most of the features of the regular site. I think it would be a hit and bring a lot more users into the social sphere. There are similar applications on the market, but none of them have the userbase of OkC from what I can guess. So yes, geo-tag aware iPhone app with a gallery feature please :) The facebook app is a good example of a polished UI. @josephhowe: No, I believe the "mobile generation" mostly applies to 20-30 year olds, but I could be wrong.

Another bump for Iphone app. Even though I don't currently have one. I'll get one I swear.

For those interested in getting a decent deal and are not afraid of strangers, your local Craigslist might be an excellent place to get one without any contracts. Takes time to hunt down a good deal though, its a popular item. @BloodElfWarlock: Blackberrys are e-mailing machines, but that's about it. They give you no control over the device otherwise, and everything you do relies on RIM's infrastructure. Oh and don't forget the data plans that only work with the BBs (at least on ATT + T-mobile). For now, the iPhone has many limitations (vs. a high-end Nokia device for example) but there is nothing on the market that comes closes to the ease of full-featured web browsing and ease of video playback. I personally can't stand iTunes, but with a jailbreak the phone becomes a bit more powerful overall.

I would love to see "m.okcupid.com" I have a palm trio and this site takes forever to load, not to mention once fully loaded many links do not work. So a gagillion YAYs for a mobile version of this fine site!

I can do certain things on my Blackberry Curve, but it ends up being quite a pain and not being able to do everything is annoying. I'd love to have an actual OkCupid! mobile site that allows you to do everything as if you were on the computer. =)

i own a blackberry curve and also find it hard to do a lot with okcupid on it. rarely do i have enough time to check up on my computer. for people who work nearly 24/7 it would be a nice relief to be able to check that on the go, at lunch or whenever.

OkCupid has now released a dedicated iPhone app:  INFO

For those of you without that device, in recent months OkCupid has made improvements to the site which should help it work better on some portable devices.  If you haven't tried it in a while, you may want to try again.

For example, Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are reputed to work OK.

Blackberry 5.0 Browser (Using Storm 2) has some issues with the current site.  The pages load and but the screen goes grey after the photos load.  If you stop the page before it fully loads you can see the site.  Strange.  Have tried a bunch of diff settings, but nothing works.

It does not surprise me that they made an iPhone app first.  What else do those IPhone users have to do with their phones but use apps?  They certainly can't use the damn thing to make/receive PHONE calls.

Hope to see a Blackberry app soon for this site, or at least a mobile page thatís compatible with most cell phone browsers.  I admit the Blackberry browser sucks but itís not the only phone OS browser thatís having a problem with this new site.

Cest La Vie I guess.

Winterinavalon:  First of all, the best thing you can do to help things along re: browser compatibility issues is to send your specific observations directly to OkCupid staff via the feedback link at the bottom of the page.  OkC staff don't have time to read every single forum post looking for bug reports.

Secondly, the Storm 9530 ("Storm 2") is in the compatible device list for Opera Mini, and I know of a number of people that have successfully used the site via Opera Mini.  Here's a post describing the 2 main alternative web browsers for Blackberries.  Opera Mini is the most popular of all the alternatives right now, according to their poll.

Lastly, are you sure you are getting the mobile version of the page on your default Storm 2 browser?  The menus are different and I believe you should get some sort of banner or notice on the top of the page that indicates you're using the mobile version of the site.

If you're not getting the mobile version, I may be able to help you work around that.

I actually downloaded opera that day and it solved the problem.

Thanks for the post!

I had tried both the mobile site and regular using the defualt blackberry browser (yes, there was the link at the top of the page to switch between both) but still got a blank grey page after everything loaded.
