No one really knows why something happens but God does and you have to trust God that He will bring you back when something happens that makes you morn.

JOB 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Christ asks us to go to church, fellowship and praise the Lord. When you have that church where you can talk and live life you will see why the Lord asks that of us.

JOB 42:1 Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 2 I know that thou canst do every thing , and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

There is no such thing as perfect churches were everyone does everything right so don’t expect one. There is a church were everyone try's to do their best.

MATTHEW 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Church is where you learn of God and how to live life. Christ loves you so you don’t need to let anything get you down God will give you freedom.

HEBREWS 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it .

It doesn't profit you unless you have that faith in God that you will get through whatever misery that you are going through. He gives you that season to get over what is happening. Christ won’t let you take it on by yourself. You don’t need to look for a reason for it to happen. God may be the only one who will ever know.

Here is a sample prayer if you're not saved today ask God for salvation in Jesus Christ's Name. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Christ for your salvation.

The words themselves will not save you. Only faith "full belief" in Jesus Christ can provide salvation.

“Dear Heavenly father I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Christ took the punishment that I deserve, so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven?"

"Jesus Christ, with your help I place my trust in you for salvation, and I ask that you will forgive me of my sins. I thank you for your wonderful grace and forgiveness.”

Go tell a Christian church you have asked Christ for salvation and go to Sunday school you'll find fellowship and the study of the bible to be a great help as you grow as a Christian.

christian platitudes bore me. the creator of the universe doesn't concern it/themselves with the goings on of a collection of stupid such as humans. make your life worth observing.
bad things happen because bad people exist. the gods don't care about you and don't share your morality, which is an arbitrary cultural creation that is consistent only in its self contradiction.

I wish they had taught me this stuff in school.

Whether or not misery is a part of the equation, of course it doesn't profit the individual unless s/he is truly faithful in God.

My baby cousin died a horrible death.  It's easy to say god has a plan when you've never seen a mother wailing at a tiny casket.

ReyesOfSunshine: God's sovereignty need not be comfort or distress, but simply argued as true or not.

^^ fuck everything and read this ... Oh I should not be getting back into this, but oh how I miss it.

I wish forums were still a public, social thing where you could slap someone for being a tool.

I'm with cat. (have been a lot lately). I used to believe, used to go to church regularly...and then I grew up. Dealing with the losses I've had and seeing the stuff I have seen I can't believe in my heart that their is a God who has a plan that involves it all...and if there is, I want nothing to do with that being.

Dad777-4U - then why is God ...jealous?

your belief structure says there is one. mine says many. nothing you can say to evidence is yours does anything but equally evidence mine. this reduces it to a question of faith, and observation. accordingly, having observed the world, your faith contradicts itself, then tries to pass off the contradictions by shrugging its shoulders. mine does not. ergo mine is more valid.

lexifromwindy: The jealousy of God is a concept.  It is not a human emotion the way we would understand it.  It means that the moral law is to worship only one God as opposed to many God or entities.  The jealousy is understandable if God created the entire universe, and individuals praise fictional entities for that creation.

The validity of whatever you believe is not based off whether Christianity is valid or invalid.  The invalidity of Christian doesn't necessarily make whatever you believe valid, for both propositions could be wrong.  You have to prove that your belief system is logical and truthful.

who's the atheist??

the first part - "The validity of whatever you believe is not based off whether Christianity is valid or invalid.  The invalidity of Christian doesn't necessarily make whatever you believe valid, for both propositions could be wrong.  You have to prove that your belief system is logical and truthful.  "

agreed. you first christian, is a nice retort. i already noted the biggest problem i have with Christianity (note - i don't much care, i have no real issue with Christianity, i just find the whole "god works in mysterious ways" when confronted with the glaring contradictions of Christianity too big a cop out. in addition, i find most Christians just...stupidly ignorant of their own religion, which isn't a reflection of the religion, but i think stems from the habit of copping-out in general. ) if you want to engage, feel free. this isn't an indictment of Christianity, just pointed out he flaw in the fundamental argument of dad guy there.

lexifromwindy: You haven't stated what those contradictions are.  The "mysterious ways" is just another way of saying "I have no clue" with a degree of reverence. The Bible and Christianity have never claimed to fully understand God, just a piece of it which is often confusing.  No priest or pastor will say they know the Will of God in all things.  Personally, I don't think it wise to have priests and pastors talk about how God gives them gifts of good times, because those good things could later prompt an even bigger fall.  The thing to be thankful are opportunities to do good, not material stuff.

Anyway, the stupidity or contradictions supposedly in Christianity doesn't justify your own world view in anyway.  The absence of belief is not a world view.
