If you viewed the profile while invisible browsing was disabled she will see the view, unless she also has invisible browsing enabled. (which eliminates the viewers list unless you have A-List)

I honestly don't think anyone in their right mind should make any sort of judgements about anyone, whether they are acquainted or not, simply because someone viewed their profile. Lots of people on OkCupid, people click through lots of profiles, it's really no biggie.

Sfguyyy  ... further to your comment above:

I find that at times if I click on someones profile just to look or even accidentally click on it more than once or twice I just may get a nastygram asking me why I looked at their profile...  particularly true if I visit another woman's profile out of curiosity.

On a "public" free site like this, if you have a profile, you should expect that it will be visited by all.

As you so aptly stated:  "... it's really no biggie..."

It sounds like he was concerned because it was someone he knew and for whatever reason did not want her to see he had visited. I don't think he had an issue with people visiting in general.

Yes he is apparently concerned because he knew her.

My point is that the simple fact that you encounter someone you know here and that they click on your profile should not have any judgements or assumptions attached to it. You're both looking for a new partner, no surprise there. You're both using OkCupid, no surprise there, lots of people do. You clicked on their profile - no surprise there either, they live in your area of interest and they match basic parameters you're looking for.

So to repeat: if anyone makes anything of such profile views, they're the one with the problem, no need to get all twisted-up about something you did when the real issue is their OCD'ness, not your profile viewing habits.

^ @ androcci   the answer you were looking for and the answer you got was in the first part of the very first comment by Sfguyyy:

"If you viewed the profile while invisible browsing was disabled she will see the view, unless she also has invisible browsing enabled. (which eliminates the viewers list unless you have A-List)"

All the rest of the verbiage by all of us that commented was just a result of our guesses about why you asked the question and our opinions about open browsing, which it sounds to me that you found it irritating and possibly as this crisis fades, hopefully in the future you will find the information helpful.

Basically, if she was not A-List, and she had not turned off her visitor list YOU were seen visiting her which may or may not be a problem for you.
