How about sg?

^scammer grammar, Justasc, and when you see that comment, READ the message and/or profile, and you will quickly be able to spot it a mile away. If they state, (for example) John Smith, by name, or they are an engineer, or a widower, or in the US Army, they most likely are a scammer and that is scammer grammar. Also,if they, type, like this, and say they are loving,caring,looking for the love of their,life,and affectionate,etc....most likely a scammer.

Crude and overtly sexual remark

I think the Potwin profiles are owned and operated by OK Cupid. They show up on Match too, which makes sense since Match own OK Cupid. They are all fake profiles. OK Cupid must use them to give the appearance that there are lots of hot men and women here dying to talk to you. Wouldn't doubt they have numerous Potwin-like places around the country.

Potwin is a small town in Kansas. I've been through there. 400 people tops. Mostly older married couples from what I saw. Kind of a hard scrabble farm town. Something a tornado could easily remove from the map some day. They have a couple gas stations, feed store, not more than a couple dozen stop lights. I wouldn't doubt there are fewer Potwin residents than Potwin profiles.

DrEvill: Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised with a handle like that you're a little paranoid, but no, OkCupid doesn't pull scams like that.

The far more likely explanation is that the same scammers are uploading fake profiles to whatever large dating websites they can get away with doing it on until they are caught. Here on OkCupid, LOTS of those profiles have been killed-off already.

What's "CT"?... people wrote that along with "no NTU".

And what's EP?

CT = "Can't Tell"

NTU = "Not the User"

I don't know what EP is, someone else will have to chime-in on that.

How do you know what to put in to do GIS?

right click on the image, copy the url.  Go to google, click on Images.

past the url into the google search box and search, click on "search by image"

David, download google image search and then favorite/bookmark it. When you go into flagmod, open that up on another page. Then drag/drop the photos into the box.

David, there are also browser plug-ins/extensions for Chrome and Firefox that let you right-click the image and choose Google search from the menu there. There may be some kind of thing like that for IE, but I have no idea. Anyway, that makes GIS searches so much quicker and easier.

Here it is for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/search-by-image-by-google/dajedkncpodkggklbegccjpmnglmnflm

And for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/search-by-image-by-google/?src=ss

Ok, got this GIS thing.  I had no idea what that was.  Trying to find out what GIS meant, I went to http://www.esri.com/what-is-gis/overview ... it gives a very, very different explanation.

Here's the thing.

I was offered to become a "flagmod" and vote on pictures that were flagged a few weeks ago.  I read the guidelines, and tried to help out.  But nowhere in the guidelines is GIS mentioned.  In fact, a lot of very useful things aren't explained.  I had no idea about this right-click and compare thing that tantalus talked about.  Why isn't that included?

Quantum_Kat, the staff is incredibly disengaged from this process. We're pretty much on our own here.
