My yearly dinner party is at the end of December - and I've decided on my theme - "All Things Small!"

Ideas so far...Petite Lasagnas, Mini Slider Burgers, Shrimp, Small Cookies with a Shot of Milk, Cheesecake Cups, Veggie Tray with Mini Veggies, Mini Quiches, Twice Baked New Potatoes, Stuffed Filet Mignon Bites...

Anyone have any good miniature recipes or ones with words meaning small even if they aren't so small?

A lot of guys on here could loan you something small, I'm sure. Me, I only have extra large.

You could turn any cake recipe into a mini-cupcake recipe (just watch baking times). Are you looking for any recipes in particular?

You could mini pot-pie. Shots of chocolate mousse. You can cut any bar cookie/brownie into bite size pieces. I would think most anything could be made small.

You should have a horse

Petit fours?

You could do tiny salads with little gem hearts and cherry tomatoes (or are they called grape tomatoes this side of the Atlantic? Little ones, anyway) and maybe pickling cucumbers?

Mini pizzas?

Mini fruit tarts. I went to a baby shower recently where the hostess made mini-quiches (no crusts) by pouring the egg batter into little heart shaped mini cupcake pans.

have you always like the idea of things small?

I would go on a pastry route, of samosas and spring rolls- but then you could just end up having a buffet.

cherry tomatoes on the vine, baked and served with the main?

or go Tapas? garlic mushrooms, garlic prawns, meatballs, bread basket . .

mussels!? I got some reduced at the market the other day, I haven't had them in awhile, they're good, and small, one mouthful.

sushi is also a nice small finger food
