| cyranocoyote Jul 5, 2009 I am posting a comment so that OKC will tell me when somebody posts a comment with actual content. Also, is there a way to see who voted in the RSVP? | |
| geoelectric Jul 5, 2009 Not that I know of. I put the vote up to get a simple count easily, but hopefully people will RSVP in thread as well. | |
| Eavocative Jul 5, 2009 I am very much intending on being there! It will be so wonderful to see you all again. | |
| geoelectric Jul 5, 2009 Fantastic! It's always so great when people come from out of town (and even greater when it's you, Ea! ;) | |
| sfguyyy Jul 5, 2009 I would say I'm a "probably" - not 100% sure yet. Thanks for doing the organizing - I'm a bit lazy about that sorta thing at the moment. :P | |
| fabricated_SI Jul 6, 2009 HaHa. Vee..Pee! Ar Ess Vee Pee, to be specific. Lets do this. | |

| geoelectric Jul 7, 2009 You're a strange man, Fab. Hope to see you there, berto! | |
| bloobell42 Jul 7, 2009 I've never been to a meetup. This sounds fun. | |
| GardenMinstrel Jul 7, 2009 Currently planning on it, as the day is clear on my calendar. Thanks, geo, for putting this together! | |
| RVN_GRL Jul 7, 2009 looks good for me too! ummmm... did we decide on kids or no kids?? either way, i should be there. just wondering though... | |
| geoelectric Jul 8, 2009 Kids are fine, I think. Just might want to sync up with other parents to make sure she won't be bored. Looking forward to seeing you all! | |
| bloobell42 Jul 8, 2009 Hi Geo, I don't mean to step on any toes, particularly not on your leadership over this meetup, but would it help to post this in the journals a couple of times before August 16th? I noticed that the influx of other upcoming meetings has sort of buried the San Jose meeting near the bottom of the pile in the forums. If it's posted in the journals, it might catch the eye of people who don't usually use forums. Anyway, that's just my two cents. Cheers. Bloo | |
| cyranocoyote Jul 8, 2009 RVN_GRL -- The set up is bring your own food, so I'd say as long as they'll fit on the grill go ahead and bring them. (: | |
| sfguyyy Jul 9, 2009 oh man, harsh.. | |
| Westener Jul 9, 2009 Too far for my taste. hope things go well anyway. | |
| geoelectric Jul 9, 2009 bloo: No worries re: stepping on toes. Not only will I make sure to post it to my journal periodically, I'll post to the CA_MEETUP journal too. I'm hoping you'll post it to your journal as well. Last year was so successful in part because a couple of our users emailed all of their local matches to tip them off. If even some of you help us get the word out on this, we'll have a great time! To address one concern, though, every time you post in the forum the topic goes to the top of the list (aside from "sticky" topics). So you're helping get the word out right now! cyrano/rvn: No tater tots on my watch! ;) | |
| RVN_GRL Jul 9, 2009 cyrano/geo: ROFLMAO!!!! you guys are sick! SICK.... ;-P | |
| Eavocative Jul 9, 2009 Just the way we like 'em, eh, RVN_GRL? :-) | |
WHAT: A potluck picnic in Vasona Lake County Park! All ages are welcome.
WHEN: August 16th, 2009. We'll start at 11AM and go until we're done! People often have dinner or drinks afterwards too.
WHERE: Vasona Lake County Park is in Los Gatos, just outside San Jose. We'll have the Blossom Valley Picnic area for the day!
333 Blossom Hill Road
Los Gatos, CA 95032
(408) 356-2729

The park does charge a $6 entry fee if you park inside. There's free parking on surrounding streets, such as University Ave and Blossom Hill, if you don't mind a small hike.
WHAT TO BRING:
You, and any of the following:
I'll have some basic water/soda/ice in a large cooler, and some basic snacks. At least one more cooler would be welcome, as it'll likely be a warm day!
OTHER INFO:
The picnic area has a large barbeque pit. I'll bring some briquettes and starter fluid as well, though my grilling skills are entirely too rusty to volunteer for cooking duty. :)
Alcohol is permitted in the picnic area, but please be conscientious that we may have attendees under 21. Additional park rules and information can be found here.
We did this last year and had a great, diverse crowd and a fantastic time. Hope to see you all again this year!
P.S. Meetups are better with a lot of people. Please spread the word about this one by passing around this link to the thread:
