Hi...

I have a big problem. Well earlier today I was using OkCupid on the Firefox browser. Well I signed out and then tried to sign back into OkCupid on the same Firefox browser and I get this message "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties right now. Check back later." Every single time I enter in my password and username correctly. I even deleted all the temp files and cleared my history.

It gets even weirder as I'm able to log into my account on my Droid X phone and also on my computer using the Internet Explorer browser. Does anyone know what in the world is going on? I only get the error message when I try to log in on Firefox.

Also in the last few days one of my contacts told me she did reply to my messages and I wasn't getting them. Then all of a sudden I get all her replies (4 of them) all at once in my inbox. My main concern right now is to find a way to log back into my account on the Firefox browser. Please help anyone. I'm using Firefox version 3.6.15.

More than likely you either have the browser misconfigured or some sort of system utility or browser add-on that is messing with web content.

OkCupid requires cookies and javascript enabled in order to work properly.

Please list the add-ons installed on the browser, as well as any security utilities you are running there. (antivirus, anti-spyware, personal firewall, ad-blockers, script blockers, etc)

In the meantime, try deleting your browser cache, close and reopen the browser, and see if that helps. (some people also suggest deleting cookies, but sometimes you lose important website data if you do that, depending on what sites are important to you)

The only add on in the browser is the Ebay one. That's it and I was able to log on before with this add on. I still have no access to OkCupid on my Firefox browser. I do have firewall on, but I don't think it's that either. The thing is that I was able to use the site on Firefox. I then signed out of it accidentally and tried to sign back into it immediately but all I get is the message "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties right now. Check back later." I can't figure out exactly what's the problem. I've cleared my cache by deleting all the temp files and cleared history too. Has anyone else have problem using OkCupid on Firefox browser??

Also again I'm receiving replies A WHOLE DAY after they are sent. They don't appear in my inbox until a day or more has pass since the person sent them. I can tell because of the timestamp on the messages.

These have to be server issues.

Can anyone direct me how to clear my cache completely?? What I did to clear my cache was go to Start then clicked on Control Pane and then Internet Options and then just selected Delete Files, Delete Cookie and Cleared my history yet it still didn't work. What else do I need to do to clear my cache?

Also now I'm running on Google Chrome Browser and it also works here too. I also added on the same plug ins that I had on Firefox so those can't be messing with me not being able to log into OkCupid from Firefox.

The control-panel stuff only affects Internet Explorer.

For Firefox 3.6.15:

  1. Make sure you are not logged-in to OkCupid on any browser (that includes smartphones via browser or special OkCupid app)
  2. Go to the "Tools" menu, select "Clear recent history".
  3. Click the "details" button in the popup
  4. Check only the "Cookies", "Cache" and "Active Logins" items
  5. Click the "Clear Now" button on the bottom
  6. Close the browser, wait 15 seconds
  7. Reopen the browser and try OkCupid again

Also - make sure you don't have a bunch of automatically-opened tabs that are logging-in to OkCupid. Start out with zero tabs open. Always make sure to explicitly log out of OkCupid whenever you are done using it, do not simply close the browser or turn off your computer/device before properly logging out.

Wow thank you so much that actually worked. Everything working perfectly and I can log back into OkCupid on the Firefox browser. I just don't get how not clearing you cache can cause you to not be able to log into a website.

This usually only happens when some bot is on the other end of the messages.   Are you sure you "know" that person?

That's why people like me get the big bux. :P

Glad it helped, enjoy.

Hey all,

My main account, 'JohnRussellHarrison@gmail.com' has been having similiar log-in issues without being affected by changing browser.  When I request a password change, I get an internal server error.  Is there any way to check my data on the back end?  Thanks.

-John Harrison, yeah I have an original email...

Look you can get in by using explorer so you got nothing to worry about.

I can always get into a site, but sometimes it takes a little work. I have a large collection of browsers and I also have free dial-up accounts with juno and net zero, so eventually I can keep trying different things until I get in.
