It's Korean sake?  You sure it's not soju?  The last time I got really wasted was on soju, which incidentally was the only time I've gotten drunk only on soju.  That shit is evil.  It goes down so easily.  I was hungover two days later.  It's best drunk in moderate amounts alongside beer rather than pounded alone.

Well, rice wine is better known amongst white westerners as sake. But yeah, sake is the Japanese word for virtually the same thing- fermented rice based beverage.

The one I got is a milky, sweet 6% ABV. Not TOO dangerous, unless you buy several bottles or one rather large one! The bottle I got is roughly the same size as a bomber of beer. Enough to give me a buzz. Shit's damn good, though. I was nomming on some cucumber slices with it- paired excellently.

The only real sake (meaning the only Japanese rice wine) I've had was a fruity/floral affair. I don't recall what it was called. But it was rather astringent, yet still, went down remarkably easily for being rather high in alcohol content, from what I recall (something like 18% ABV).

Sake and soju are definitely similar but not the same.  The soju I was referring to was also around 18% alcohol.  I like it, but I do prefer sake, which is usually lower in alcoholic content.  Unflavored, unfiltered, cold.

Avoid baijiu.

First off, the korean stuff you had is makkori not sake. Similar but different.

Also, no, sake is not beer. Beer is beer.

One time some guy I knew asked me to help him w/ his car, but he took some methadone pills or some sh*t. He said he thought it was morphine, but turned out it was methadone. Anyway, he was really out of it and annoying + not helping me w/ the car, so I had him go under and I just kept dropping sockets and pliers at him and stuff. It was pretty fun.

There should be Mexican Bean beer.

Beans aren't worth making anything else out of.

Besides, those Beaners will drink anything.

Youri, you truly have the ability to make me laugh out loud all by myself. Thanks for that. :)

If it's made with a grain (rice is a grain) it's technically a beer.

They're really strict about what gets called beer in Japan. Even Hoegarden is not allowed to be sold as beer. It's like, bubbling alcoholic beverage.

sake and soju aren't really that similar.

soju and shochu are similar.

sake is only similar to beer in that it is brewed.

"made with grain" does not equal beer.

scotch, bourbon, and rye whiskey are not beer.

Nobody's talking about soju ya dumbass. She obviously had makkori, like I said. Makkori is quite similar to sake, particularly nigori-zake

I brought up soju, but to be fair, OP's saying sake pretty much confused things from the outset.

It didn't confuse anything. She said she drank something sweet and milky. Does that sound like soju to you? No. Get with the fucking program.
