No tacos, tequila, y sombreros en cinco de mayo??? ¿qué coño!!!

I love how politically correct white libtards think they know more about non-white people then those people themselves. Everybody loves tacos, vato!

This idea of sensitivity has gone far beyond absurdity. I guess China should ban sombreros and even cowboy hats because for Chinese people to wear them would be disrespecting Mexican and Redneck culture.

Im Mexican, but not like "Mexican" and I have to say is it offensive that in my profile I say I want to find a man who wants to eat tacos?

BTW last Cinco De Mayo I work a sombrero and fake stache.

is it offensive that in my profile I say I want to find a man who wants to eat tacos?

Of course not!

BTW: Why do hiptards love Dev0 and Talking Heads but hate Oingo Boingo and disregard Wall of Voodoo?

Is that question directed at me?

Im not a die hard Devo fan, and I do like some Talking Heads. But as for the other two, the only thing I know of Wall of Voodoo, I learned from this. Which I bought when I was 18 and I have to say it was the best decision of my life because it opened me up to bands I would have never known about.

When it comes to 80's New Wave, Im more of a Manchester scene girl myself.

When it comes to 80's New Wave, Im more of a Madchester scene girl myself.

Fixed. ;-)

Devo, Wall of Voodoo, & Talking Heads are what you would call art rock more than new wave. Man the early 80s sure rawked! I guess the Smiths just aren't gloomy enough for me; lol.

^^ The Madchester scene was totally separate from 80s new wave.

Best indie label(ever): Mute Records LTD

I guess the Smiths just aren't gloomy enough for me; lol.

A common misconception of The Smiths is they are dark and gloomy. Their most radio friendly hit is, "How Soon is Now" and to be honest it is super depressing, the lyrics and the music capture the mood of some lonely guy at a club who is to shy to approach anyone and he laments his feeling of despair.

But, if you never really ventured out into the rest of their music you would think they were all like this, quite the contrary, Morrissey write political musing of England at the time, while being sarcastic and a hint of satire in his music. Morrissey loves Oscar Wilde and he was often very sarcastic, thus Morrissey is extremely sarcastic.

In keeping with the theme of extremely stereotypical Mexicans, some might say my love of The Smiths and Morrissey is very stereotypical as Morrissey has a HUGE Latino following.

When I think Manchester I think Buzzcocks, and Soft Machine.

Of course I'm also older than dirt.

And yes, Miss siftbro. He recently did a show at the Staples Center out here in LA.

^ He's kind of a knob though. Decent song-writer, but dear christ he's up his own arse...

I like Wall of Voodoo lyrics because they are sarcastic, satirical, and relentlessly mock the American way of life.

I suppose you could regard the Chameleons UK as early dreampop/shoegaze. The biggest misconception about them is that they're a "goth" band.

But I'll always have a soft spot for Basildon because it is the home of Depeche Mode.

I love The Buzzcocks so much. They are probably the most emo band ever. Like for real. Sometimes I think, this song was written for me.

And about Morrissey, hes possibly the most self indulgent person in the existence of life. But, I love him. Sadly him and my dad share the same birthday, and I only remember my dad's because of Morrissey.

Why do chicks love The Smiths/Morrisey so damn much? I daresay that at least 70% of their fanbase is female.

He's an extremely gifted crooner and poet Miss siftbro.

Albiet your and Ms_bitch's assessment of his personality are spot on. Of course he keeps company with quite a few artists in that regard.

My fave Buzzcock tunes are "I Don't Mind", "Fiction Romance" and "Love you More"

And my favorite tacos are soft shell (just to stay on topic).

Why do all my relationships end because guys hate Morrissey?

Though, one guy I was dating I made him watch "Who Put The M In Manchester" with me as punishment. BUT, I blew him the whole time so I think that makes up for it.

I have had many great make out sessions to "Love You More". But I have to say the BEST make out I ever had was to Joy Division's "Substance". Ive actually never fucked to The Smiths. Its probably because I dont want to ruin The Smiths with some terrible lay.

Another chick band: The Cure

Used to listen to them in my late teens and early 20s, but Robert Smith's voice is horrible. Always preferred Siouxsie and The Banshees.
