To enjoy this
series you should really start with the first book "Every Dead
Thing." It does take some time to really get into but once you have
gotten into it the rest of the series flies. In the series you will
meet 2 of my favorite gay characters; Angel and Louis.
Specific Interest in the Whedonverse
Normally I wouldn't go out of my way to watch Buffy
or Angel: the series are generally goofy in nature even with dark
undertones. They're mostly just not my style. But there's a
character in each that draws me to the series: Fred (short for
Winifred) from Angel, and Willow from Buffy.

I don't watch TV, so I sadly collect the series of the DVDS. I have
a lot of Doctor Who, Angel, Dexter (not Dexter's lab, which is
still pretty cool but look up the new Dexter - funny series) A lot
of Anime, and a ton of movies.
