Have relaxed my book fascism, though still believe in the light of Mieville and Noon (that is, China Mieville and Jeff Noon) and I want to write like them and only them.

Sometimes my favorite books make me absolutely giddy - the kind that carries you incredibly far from reality (Jeff Noon, Tim Powers, China Mieville.

I read a lot of science fiction - and particularly like the work of China Mieville , Kim Stanley Robinson, and John Barnes.

On paragraph four, there is an excellent short story, called Go Between by China Mieville, in which the narrator also wonders about the arbitrary choices he makes about which items he buys in shops, etc.

Science Fiction Reading Suggestions

I really have to second the China Mieville Bas-Lag novels (Perdido Street Station, The Scar, Iron Council), they're some of the most enjoyable, well written and convention-defying novels I've read.
