Eddings: Eddings' books have interesing settings and some of the
the coolest characters ever: Silk, Sir Sparhawk, Sir Kalten,
Belgarath, Polgara, Beldin, Sephrenia, Flute, Faran. However the
plots are basically travelogues and you can easily see the mundane
human cultures the Eddings

I avoided anything written by David Eddings for awhile after I
broke up with my college boyfriend (he introduced me to the
Malloren, I think it was). Then, a few years later, when I tried to
read a new book by Eddings, I found it to be derivative and boring.
