few Folk Metal bands that does not
cross over from some other genre—there are very, very few pure Folk
Metal bands. There is a lot of crossover with Viking Metal, and the
two are often found together, but not always. So if a band uses
Folk influences they can be described as a Folk Metal band,

Folk Metal (or punk, lately) is what I call the stuff I'm doing in
the last few years. You'd have to hear it to understand, I think.
The "folk" part is because I do most of it on acoustic.

dark metal bands, and I moshed the night away. The
headlining act was Korpiklaani (basically a Finnish drinking band,
they sound like Flogging Molly with heavier guitars and speedier,
Finnish folk/polka beats combined with an accordion and fiddle),
and I managed to start a full-on folk-metal

(The music sort of gets "harder" the further down the post you go,
so heads up) Kiuas and Ensiferum are considered "folk" metal. Sort
of a blend of European folk music and metal. They sometimes use
folk instruments and generally sing about fantasy related themes,
myths, paganism, etc.

home of Heavy Metal too)London, of course, is insanely active, but
there's also the living costs, which count against it.I've heard
Canterbury is a nice place, but lutes etc + electric guitars = folk
metal which is a terrible terrible thing.

and folk metal. The Death metal bands from Sweden are the best in
the world, and only Norway has any decent black metal bands. I have
been a fan of Immortal, Mayhem, Emperor and Satyricon for years, I
saw Immortal in concert when they came to this country in 1999. I
also love folk metal
