I am quite partial to Godel
, Escher , Bach : An Eternal Golden Braid , by Douglas Hofstadter ,
a book concerning many and sundry things ; a somewhat challenging
tome, I acknowledge, but Hofstadter's engaging style and infectious
enthusiasm make it pleasant going.
Today I had conversations involving James
Johnson , Lincoln , Escher , Godel , Bach , The Bangles , Erdos ,
small electronic devices , operating systems , locking semantics ,
python , making bows , making twine , plants , climbing , bikes ,
ultimate , neuroscience , sociopolitical organization of
'
Godel , Escher , and Bach : An Eternal Golden Braid' by Douglas
Hofstadter , and how I really should finish reading it, but dammit,
I left my copy of the book in another country.
My favorite books are " Moby Dick ," " Awake In The Dark ,"
and " Godel , Escher , Bach : An Eternal Golden Braid.

I heartily recommend "Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden
Braid" by Douglas Hofstadter and if you start right now, you'll
probably finish it before I will.

I also highly recommend Metamagical
Themas and of course Godel, Escher, Bach (I'm not even going to try
to use special characters here).

Sipho, if you like elegantly
combined form and content, have you read Hofstadter's Godel,
Escher, Bach?

Just reading the Wikipedia article about Godel Escher Bach and
noted how relevant two paragraphs of it was to this very
discussion: "Through illustration and analysis, the book discusses
how self-reference and formal rules allow systems to acquire
meaning despite being made of "meaningless"

I'd like to find a good modern-orchestral performance of Bach's
Musical Offering ,the joint inspiration for Hofstadter's
Godel,Escher,Bach.
