Honestly, I'd like to kick the crap out of John Hughes--the
director of all the brat pack movies in the 80s. They were great
movies, but they really screwed me up. In Hughes' movies, kids are
pretty much one-dimensional: the sensitive kid, the princess, etc.

John Hughes, the onetime advertising copywriter turned filmmaker
beloved for family-friendly movies such as Sixteen Candles, The
Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Home Alone, died of a
heart attack this morning in Manhattan, reports Variety.

This from Jezebel.com"The director, producer and writer responsible
for hugely popular movies like National Lampoon's Vacation, Ferris
Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen
Candles and Pretty in Pink died today in New York. More to come.

Candles" John Hughes?

Most of John Hughes films are based around that fictitious
"Shermer, IL". Even Ferris Bueller lived in Shermer. It's supposed
to be Northbrook (where Hughes grew up and went to high school),
but it's called Shermer because Northbrook used to be called
Shermerville.
