outside Manhattan, anyhow This confuses me, b/c I think the parts of NYC outside Manhattan are hardly on any tourist's radar screen, as either safe or not safe. And this is just fine w/ me. But historically for every Howard Beach episode, there was a Brian Watkins episode in Manhattan.

hell i grew up in Bayonne (hudson county), and loved living right outside Manhattan. Then in 2004 I moved to Brooklyn, and NJ feels like a faaaaar away place. but in all honesty you can take the PATH into Manhattan from Jersey City about as fast as I can take the subway into Manhattan.

it seems likes the writers made a big effort to present Manhattan as being condescending towards humans in order to better sell his willingness to go along with Veidt's plan. Moore's Manhattan is a fascinatingly complex character, while the film's Manhattan seems more like a straight-up villain.
