seconds, where the two who are joined in the mutual bond would

Actually the founding priciples of the United States owe more to
the age of enlightment philosphers (Hobbes, Locke, Montaigne,
Voltaire), who heavily influenced Jefferson, Franklin, and others
and to the religious philosophy of deism.
