Anyone who has any love of narrative and characterization must read
Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and ClayPerhaps
because I am a bit too well-versed in comics history, I found
Kavalier & Clay to be a bit dull - almost textbook dull.

one, but The Amazing Adventures of
Kavalier and Clay is wonderful. It is the best character
development in a modern American novel that I have ever read. The
plot is amazing. The author Michael Chabon will, I would bet, be
known as one of the greatest authors of our generation. Absolutely
amazing.

But if
you're looking for something a little meatier, I'd go with "The
Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay", which won the Pulitzer
in.
