This test refers to Tolkein as Low-brow, doesn't it? I'd probably have to argue with that, if it does. Sure, the plagiarists who have followed Tolkein (and usually followed poorly) have reduced that portion of the genre to something akin to garbage with their repetitiveness.

I usually made my own settings -well that, and I hate the idea of fantasy races, with the exception of elves which I use in my setting as Grimm Fairy Tale type fairies, wild, inconsistent, dangerous and insane by human standards, not very good choices for PC's, and certainly not Tolkein-ish snobs.
