At the time of his death on September 24, 1991, Ted had written and illustrated 44 children's books, including such all-time favorites as Green Eggs and Ham, Oh, the Places You'll Go, Fox in Socks, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His books had been translated into more than 15 languages.

I've made pretty much all my career decisions based on the fact that I love books, especially children's books.

I'm the manager of children's services at a public library. I love what I do because I get to work with kids and books (and great coworkers), and I get to do something different every day!I also write a children's literature blog with a semi-decent following (reviewing books and things like that).

And buy books. It's a great job! I've recently finished serving three years on state readers' choice book award committees; after reading hundreds of children's books, I'm finally catching up on my "grown-up" reading.

Reading Like an Adult

Comment by mesbeme

If you're just reading to gloss what is on the top then you're basically reading a children's book (that's not to say there aren't children's books with deeper meanings but rather childrens books have to work this way because children traditionally do not read on a deeper level).

Bad book choices.

I re-read books from my earlier days during nostalgic periods and really enjoy it. There are a lot of good children's books out there, I'm just a little annoyed that half the profiles I see have Harry Potter and Twilight (the latter being mildly enjoyable but definitely not "good literature")listed
