he hates comedy clubs. I vow from now on just to rent the DVD and

Comedians that aren't funny but are somehow popular.
Some
people build a career based on how funny they were or are in comedy
clubs, but it doesn't translate to prime time TV real well.
Or movies. In those venues, the underlying plot has to
lend itself to comedy, or the whole thing falls flat.
