So those of us in forensic anthropology know that the skeleton reflects race, whether 'real' or not, just as well if not better than superficial soft tissue does. The idea that race is 'only skin deep' is simply not true, as any experienced forensic anthropologist will affirm.

There are lots of majors that could help you: Criminal Justice, Police Studies, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Science, Legal Studies/pre-law, Sociology, and Anthropology, just to name a few.

With a degree in forensic anthropology, you'll be able to find work outside of academia. Most large cities have forensic anthropologists on staff or as consultants for police CSI.

There are oodles of "off-shoot" fields to go into when it comes to forensic anthropology, for example, in accident reconstruction and determining loss of mobility due to the mechanics of an accident.
