I stopped writing poetry at some point, and recently I've been trying to get my verse-fix by writing songs instead. (I finally figured out that when everyone decided free verse was the ONLY way to write poetry, all the people who still wanted to use rhyming and verse-forms started writing songs.

poems tend to be more free verse but
there usually is some sort of structure, however loose. Free verse
can be very well thought out - it does actually take effort to
choose words that create a vivid feeling or imagery. Some of my
journal entries blur the line between poetry and prose, for
example.
