Museum of Art, during which they started experimenting with melting
glass in a small furnace and creating blown glass art. Thus
Littleton and Labino are credited with being the first to make
molten glass available to artists working in private studios. This
approach to glassblowing blossomed into
bows, I can create chords and interesting sounds and
melodies (I think so, anyway :) Also, I have been a glass beadmaker
for 10 years. I use a blowtorch to melt and manipulate italian,
german and japanese glass rods into art beads. The technique is
called " flameworking ", or " lampworking " glass.
Since I started blowing glass, I
have found that over breaks and at times when I can't do so, I get
a restless itch to make things. It's like my hands can't do without
the process of creating. I really enjoy the fact that glass is a
craft as well as an art, and that glass art can be functional as

If you're like me and find this type of thing
lovely/interesting/visually sensuous you also probably call it art
glass. I was corrected by my father-in-law this morning on that
point. (He's a sculptor and art professor.) Anyway, I thought it
was spectacular in parts.

He exists in a world in which he, his friends and
contemporaries are of significant stature in the field of art. His
ideas are valid for him, even though they may not fit my ideas or
sense of appreciation. I agree with you absolutely - this kind of
glass is definitely Art to me.
