My roommate also made me read the Fables graphic

a recent fascination with graphic novels of all flavors, including

Alan Moore created V for Vendetta as a Graphic Novel and felt the
film butchered his creation, and in fact it did cut more than a few
corners. Read the Graphic Novel, it's the real deal. Alan Moore is
the guy that writes graphic novels that get mistaken for literature
- even his superhero stuff

I don't think graphic novels will supplant the traditional novel,
due to the power of such writers as Camus, to give one example from
the past, and Janet Fitch to give another from the present. Novels
allow for amazing flexibility and point-of-view, evocation, and no
graphic novelist can rival the

kids most likely to read novels out of school, not least. And
there's a practical consideration to take into account. Because
comics are more visual they're easier to read as a group, which is

those
technically are not graphic novels, but trade collections. An
actual graphic novel is a story that is appearing in print in that
book format for the first time (i.e. hasn't been serialized). I use
the term graphic novel to cover all comic related products that are
in book form.

My review of the WatchmenThe dark,
existential, almost McCarthy-ist feel of the graphic novel is lost
within the confines of, essentially a three hour Adam West episode
of Batman.

There was quite a bit of subtext in the movie, I thought, and I
probably would have picked up on the subtext better had I read the
graphic novel first.
