I want to be a pediatric nurse and someday I want to go back and be a nurse practitioner .

I am in grad school to be a certified nurse midwife and a women's health care nurse practitioner.

meeting new people in Milwaukee, learning to be a nurse practitioner (I have been a nurse for over 5 years before taking this new job and role).

I am currently a nurse and working on my master's degree in nursing to become a nurse practitioner.

I'm a nurse, working on the Infectious Disease Unit. I really love it. I'm getting my masters in nursing to become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I enjoy working as a nurse, but look forward to the time when I am making the decisions and placing the orders, rather than following the orders.

My fav though is; after a physical by very good Nurse Practitioner, I was contacted by the Nurse of a Doctor in the same practice, who had been given my file, that "Doctor So-in-So would like for you to make an appointment to come in so he can talk to you about your Diabetes".

Have you ever been tested?

I had scheduled it as a normal appointment, so I saw the nurse practitioner in the examination room (she was basically treated like a general practitioner at this office).

Any Physician's Assistants out there?

Comment by _elizadeath_

For me i chose to just get another bachelors in nursing and then perhaps later become a nurse practitioner - just as good of pay as PA but less responsibility and more job opportunity. Also, PA's are similar to Nurse practitioners but have to be supervised by a MD for legal reasons.

Consider going immediately to the closest health care provider you can access that can write a prescription: Family Doc, Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, whomever.

The advent of the nurse practitioner and the physicians assistant has taken much of the GP's burden and place that in the hands of people who do not have to spend years upon years in training and school.
