I love reading, and have in the past few months began reading books recreationally again after reading textbooks for over five years. I tried to read some last summer toward the end of my trip, but perhaps I had picked the wrong book as I just couldn't get into it.

I think the key to enjoying a movie that is based on a book is not reading the book. Or at least having significant distance between reading the book and watching the movie. For example, I loved Sense & Sensibility, but never read the book.

^^Reading to them or vice versa would never work for me, reading aloud slows down my reading and I am not at all an auditory learner - I'd phase out and end up bored. Whenever my ex would try to read me passages from something he was reading, I'd have to make him give me the book so I could read it

books (since I'm not a fast reader).The ancient assignment called "the book report" deals with grade-level reading better.  With a book report, regardless of length, your report gives you an outlet to demonstrate how well you comprehended the book, and/or how much you gleaned from the book
