My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A wise professor and friend once told me (as I was having serious thoughts about throwing in the towel on a fledgling music career) that if you stick with something long enough, devote enough of your life to it, you will eventually be successful at that thing. Few words have shaped my adult life more than those.

I live for spontaneous nostalgia, the occasional expression that translates itself seamlessly out of my head and through my instrument, my next opportunity to see a bit more of the world, the smell of petrichor, struggle-for-breath laughter with friends, and for anyone who has ever genuinely cared about my wellbeing and happiness.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Practicing, performing, writing, teaching, and digging the hell out of what I do. I play sax and write/arrange horn parts for a funk/soul band (original music). I'm also a private saxophone lesson instructor for several large school districts and am in the process of amassing my mega studio, muahahaha!! In other words, life for me consists of many late nights, early mornings, driving from hither to yon, consuming copious amounts of Red Bull, and collecting dead presidents.

I recently bought a house and have been playing around a lot with furniture, new appliances, and mowing yards, etc. You know you've reached adulthood when shopping for barstools gets you all excited. It's daunting at times, but then again I feel like I'm one of the few people who have turned what most would consider a hobby into a rewarding career/lifestyle. Fine by me!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Answering a question with another question, guessing on quantities of ingredients when cooking, the lost art of driving a manual.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Eyes. Forearms (oddly enough.) The unintentionally serious look on my face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Animal Farm, The Bad Place, Watchers, Robert Frost poems, Harry Potter (GoF), and God Is Not Great.

Lost in Translation, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, The Shawshank Redemption, or anything by the Cohen Bros, Spielberg, Tarantino, or Aronofsky.

Cosmos, Breaking Bad, The Newsroom, Colbert Report, Mythbusters, Top Gear, and Deadliest Catch. I'm really not the greatest at keeping up with tv shows.

Shostakovich's 5th Symphony recorded by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is absolutely incredible and trumps just about anything else I could list here, but Sigur Ros and Death Cab are both near and dear to me. Beyond that, my musical tastes run the gamut of things not including bro country, screamy angsty teenager "rock", or most new rap.

Mahi-mahi, grilled and lightly seasoned, drizzled with freshly squeezed lemon and served over a bed of wild rice. Add a bottle of two-year-old Sauvignon blanc. Seriously though, I'll eat just about anything. No mayonnaise though! Nope nope nope CAN'T handle it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
tonal harmony
positive vibes from friends and family
new discoveries
a sense of accomplishment
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Breaking the cosmic speed limit, how comforting thoughts often trump inconvenient truths, a varied mix of social/cultural/political narratives, groovy horn lines.

My inner monologue can be deafening.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
probably playing at a fine music venue near you, but I like to keep up with new movies that are showing on the occasional Friday night off. A game of Settlers of Catan and a good IPA is never off the table.

deep down, you always wanted someone to dedicate and perform a tender and heartfelt jazz ballad a la John Coltrane circa 1963 to you, because that's something I can handle.

Of course, meeting up and solving all the world's problems together over a few drinks is always acceptable.
