My self-summary
Okcupid is s a girl-face delivery device for me- usually while eating toast in the mornings. I'm well Traveled. Smart but terrible at spelling. I ride a bicycle. My mother is an immigrant. Dual passport- dual power. I'm self aware. Gentlemanly. I know the "proper way" to hold a fork and knife but I don't care how others hold their cutlery. I've been known to have a seriously off color and inappropriate sense of humor. I apologize in advance.
What I’m doing with my life
Photography and video- art worker- survival machine.

I recently told the local Williamsburg Chase bank rep "I need to be free. I want to ride a motorcycle across Europe," in response to an attempt to get me to open a saving account.
I’m really good at
Underwater basket weaving, pie making, interpersonal pie making.

I've just started a ceramics class. Apparently I'm good.
The first things people usually notice about me
Floppy hair- Bug zapper personality-

Lately people are asking me if Bryan Ferry is my father? No, my father's name was Harry.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love it all. Art, film, literature, music. As far as this goes, I probably have more in common with your grandmother than you.

Movies- I like them old, black and white, foreign, documentaries, you name it. Hitchcock doesn't get enough credit for being funny. Douglas Sirk, John Houston, Busby Berkeley, Bergman, Ozu, okay I'm a film nerd. I'd live in a movie theater if they let me. Hiroshima Mon Amour is the most perfect movie ever made.

Art- Ed Ruscha, Brassaï, William Kentridge, Reginald Marsh, Nam June Paik, Josef Cornell (films), Tim Hawkinson, Christian Marclay, James Turrell, Yael Bartana, Garry Hill, Stan Douglas, even Douglas Gordon, Elizabeth Price seems pretty amazing, Cyprien Gaillard.

Biographies- Emma Goldman, Pablo Neruda, Luis Buñuel- now reading the autobiography of Bertrand Russell.

Nonfiction-recently read The New Jim Crow. It's a must read if you care about humans. Steven Pinker, Richard Dawkins, Ben Goldacre, Daniel Dennett, Noam Chomsky, Jon Ronson, Bill Bryson and Dianetics by L Ron Hubbard. The last one may not be true.

Short stories- David Sedaris, Dorothy Parker, Raymond Carver, E.L. Doctorow

Fiction- Dune by Frank Herbert is one of my favorites. Of course I've read and enjoyed Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I like Paul Auster a lot. Really looking forward to the new Cormac McCarthy book. I like historical fictions about Roman empire. If anyone out there can recommend a book half as good as I Claudius please step up and say something.

Music- To name a few- Townes Van Zandt, Arvo Pärt, Gilberto Gil, Pablo Casals, ancient Swedish pastoral music, Joni Mitchell, Duke Ellington!! Moondog, Michael Hurley, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Kraftwerk. When I was 14 I almost got a David Bowie tattoo. Glad I didn't. Also I realized recently that I have nearly every Smiths song lyric still memorized from my edgy teen years.

Food- I like it when people bring me food.

The six things I could never do without
Sometimes I hate my possessions.
If there was a fire I'd grab -

My viking ship painting
Family photos (I have negatives from the 19th century)
My Crown Graphic

Everything else can burn.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I want to learn how to sail.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I unconsciously disassociate when I meet people who are religious. You can blame the Christian summer camp I attended when I was 11.

It should be noted that I'd rather listen to someone go on about Jesus and the miracles of the bible than hear anything about homeopathy, reflexology, naturopathy, reiki healing or other such nonsense.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For short-term dating
You should message me if
Write me if you're smart and sweet- if you're considerate on the subway -if you ride a bicycle- if you have found a way to survive in this city without being a workaholic - if you feel passionate about culture and the whole spectrum of human expression.

Write me if you've been angered because I insulted your reflexology practice, because despite your fury, you've made it all the way down to the bottom of this profile and maybe that means we're meant for each other.

Also- must be able to run fast if there's danger.
