I am a very dilligent person, quite serious about my responsibilities and always helpful. As a result I tend to neglect the emotional side of my life and leave little time for my own interests. Although at times I try a more light hearted approach in everyday life through my distinctive sarcastic humour I am nonetheless often deeply depressed. In social matters I appear rather shy or even cold and aloof as I'm more like a silent lone wolf - an observer of society rather than an actual participant.

Right now I'm putting my heart and soul into my job and I want to succeed as I'm continuing the family business. If my plans come to frutition, I can finally retire....... in just another thirty years - yay!

I'm really good at planning things and solving problems by taking them on in a logical way, going step-by-step. I have a lot of general knowledge making me something like a living encyclopedia, because I enjoy aquiring and sharing all kinds of information.
Besides that............well, I'd say I'm not especially good at barely anything, instead I'm more like a jack of all trades as my job covers a great many of fields ranging from abstract chemistry over bookkeeping to repairing the brakes on a truck.

The beard I guess but besides that I don't have a clue, possibly the ever-sullen expression on my face. But don't let that fool you - I'm just too lazy to pull the corners of my mouth up all the time. Usually people like me better the longer they know me, because I often leave a rather bleak first impression..

I always appereciate a good story, so that's my most important criteria when it comes to books, movies, series and so on. I'm very interested in world history (with focus on the World Wars and the American Civil War). But science fiction also appeals to me a lot and I have read most of the classic books on the subject ranging from H.G. Wells to Kim Stanley Robinson.
On the other side I don't like to categorize my interests - I'm open for everything, as long as I like it. It's the content that counts not the wrapping.

Oh well, you might think that's a litte bit too unspecific - so I add a litte list for your convenience.

Kim Stanley Robinson - The Years of Rice and Salt, George Orwell - 1984, Margaret Atwood - The Handmaid's Tale, Joe Haldeman - The Forever War, John Birmingham - Axis of Time, Cormac McCarthy - The Road, most novels written by Harry Turtledove like the Timeline-191-series, Battletech-novels.

Generally everything that includes alternate history, dystopia, collapse of civilization, downfall of mankind and so on.

I'm also an avid reader of Der Spiegel, Die Zeit and the good old GameStar

Movies / TV
Hunt for Red October, Heat, The Negotiator, Inside Man just to name a few.

Well I don't watch much TV as I believe the program has gotten worse over the years. Nowadays I usually watch documentaries, anime and sci-fi but certainly not as much as I used to.

Oh, yes. And then there's South Park - just my kind of humour.

Sitting in front of my laptop reading an e-book, playing videogames, watching a documentary / anime / movie and so on. I don't mind if friends invite me to go out together, but I can also live a happy life without attending any parties.

If you want to hear a couple of pretty private things about me, just look over the many questions I wrote explanations for. This should give you a quite decent feeling of how I tick..

OK, OK, you want a little secret, so how about this: if I ever make enough spare money it is my dream to possess my own real-life tank. Yes, tank. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a Panzer III or IV (preferably the late versions with side skirts and spaced turret armor)
