This is in the process of being updated!!!

Hi there. I'd try to tell you what kind of person I am but I think that is best left open to your own interpretation.

I love hiking, walking, hugs, tabletop roleplaying games, Go, rainy weather, tiny little used book stores with obscure books crammed into every little corner, Frisbee, nerd humor, people who like to talk, people who like to listen, and small fuzzy animals that cause me to make profoundly unmanly noises. :3

I've recently realized that I am a much happier person without attempting to label my sexual orientation since this allows me to take life as it comes, without any hangups. Unfortunately, OkCupid doesn't have an option for that. -_-
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am in the process of completing my bachelor's degree in mathematics at UCLA and I will be attending UCR in the fall as a first-year Ph.D student.*

*disclaimer: if you are a student in a class for which I am the teaching assistant, I will not date you. Similarly, if we are dating, you should not take a class for which I am the TA. Why, you ask? Ethics.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am especially good at picking up languages, cooking, and absorbing interesting new bits of math.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Why don't you tell me?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite book would have to be The Atrocity Archives, by Charles Stross, which is a Lovecraftian spy thriller - yep, I'm a geek and I'm proud of it!
Of course, I also enjoy other authors; I'm a fan of the works of Vernor Vinge, Jim Butcher, (tbc)...

For the mathematically and/or physically inclined: I have been enjoying The Road to Reality, by Sir Roger Penrose, Frobenius Algebras and 2D Topological Quantum Field Theories, by Joachim Kock, Quantum Invariants of Knots and 3-Manifolds, by Vladimir Turaev, Introduction to Symplectic Topology, by Dusa McDuff, and a score of other books and papers.

As far as movies are concerned, I'm inclined to say that Death at a Funeral (the British version), Bottle Shock, Star Trek (2009), Gangs of New York, and How to Train Your Dragon are somewhere up near the top of the list though, in truth, that's nowhere near a representative sample.

I don't watch all that much TV anymore.

I can honestly say that I cannot say what my favorite music is; my answer to that question could change on a weekly basis if I tried to answer it.
I play Turkish and Persian folk and classical music as well as some bluegrass and rock.

Food is an entire realm unto itself; I have numerous favorites from many different incomparable types of cuisine.

I tend to prefer Asian foods because they are delicious and I feel healthier after eating them than after consuming most other kinds of foods.
I especially love Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, and Vietnamese food but there will always be a place in my heart for cold Chinese left-overs at 2am.

That is not to say that I don't like anything else; there are few things closer to my culinary heart than homemade pasta, frikadeller (Danish meatballs), or whitefish and bagels with cream cheese.
