I am Sleeping, in, and tomorrow.

My Self-Summary

I've got simple needs and ambitious dreams. For me to be happy today I need about an hour at a coffee shop with Wi-Fi, a burrito, some good music, and maybe a beer with a friend. For me to say the same twenty years from today I'll need to have seen the Earth from space.

If I'm not sleeping I'm learning something or making something. I keep myself busy with music performance, production, composition, theory and instruction. I make music videos. I read everything that I can get my hands on. Physics, Spec-Fi, software manuals, religious texts, philosophical treatises, prose, etc. Anything that can spark a fresh idea or develop a skill.

I've got a bit of a rock fetish. Rock and Roll, rock climbing, and stone sculpture.

What I’m doing with my life

Hmmm... the Big question.

I've been self-employed for three years now. I'm one of those scrambling A/V freelancers. I shoot and edit video, direct and switch multi-cam broadcasts of rock concerts, tech projection installations, sound design and mix audio. I also perform in two bands, teach guitar, track studio sessions, and compose. But I suppose this is not a resume posting.

The point is that a 9 - 5 kills me. Sales, management, service - I've been there. I have chosen this course because it gives me the freedom to choose what I do and when I do it. I sustain myself with creativity. I thrive on problem solving under pressure. I love the fact that I am constantly meeting intelligent, fast paced individuals that are all coming together to make something great happen.

I want to continue to build a life that allows me to travel, learn, create continually, and have as much fun as possible.

I’m really good at

Give me the manual and I'll land the space shuttle. The same basic principals apply to being good at anything. If I want to do it, I'll be good at it.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes and my apparent stoicism.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

This section could take me a week to write. I'll give ya just one current suggestion from each category.

Book: Anathem, by Neal Stephenson

Album: At War With Walls and Mazes, by Son Lux

Movie: Man on Wire

Food: Special burrito with carnitas at La Serinita.

The six things I could never do without

Coffee
My hearing
Internet
Dreams
A musical instrument
The city

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Lately it's been harmonic theory and the neuro-psychology of the perception of sound.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out running around the city somewhere. I spend enough time at home during the day.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I think I'm wanted in Georgia.

You should message me if

If you have real interest in interacting with people you meet here. There is obviously a necessary phase of message correspondence first, but I'm not here for email buddies.

Send me a message if you want to play some chess over coffee, hit the rock gym, take a drive out of town, invite me to a house party, exchange books, etc. You know, the stuff people do to have a good time and get to know each other.
