I am Honest, open, and thoughtful.
My Self-Summary
I continue to experiment with
how to be good in a chaotic
world. I've been a hippie-craftsman, a hindu monk, and a masseur. I
chose not to have children until I could support them with
sustainable technology, so now my only close relative is one
sister, also childless. My vocation is developing
human-powered vehicles and
other
alternative]]
technology, which I sometimes support with handyman work, if it
is educational or particularly good for
conservation. I'm quite concerned
with
global
warming,
peak
oil, and
social equality.
What I’m doing with my life
I recently moved to a small town in northern Saskatchewan to
re-group and focus on building a new prototype vehicle without
waiting for good business partnerships to form. I'm almost done my
new workshop, but need to get after the paperwork and learning
modern drafting. I've spent a lot of time getting to know my new
bioregion and thinking over sustainable ways to stay warm and
energized. I'm hoping to work with some other people to make an
experimental off-grid house and or community in this area. I'm
putting a solar collector on my house, but hoping to get the whole
town onto the kind of combined heat and power unit I picked out, so
I don't wind up with the only warm, well-lit house in town one of
these weeks.
P.S. - I recently found some new and better ways to cope with the
gaps in my early life, and feel much more comfortable with people.
I’m really good at
Making things that have never been made before, and not taking
small steps or including inappropriate parts in design. My 1st
attempt at a vehicle won the world championship for practical pedal
vehicles ten years later. I can often make things with half the
parts and/or material often used. I have only taught a few
seminars, but they were very well received. I can get a
laugh from a roomful of
strangers. Some of my snapshots are postcard grade. Doing
massage, I get great
reviews and good tips. I
listen patiently to things nobody else
gets told. People like to get my perspective on things that seem
too big.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm fairly tall and thin, usually with indifferent posture. My
clothes are usually clean but a bit worn, and my hair and beard are
a bit long about half the time. If I'm getting noticed, I'm usually
messing around with something much more interesting to look
at.
Here, they notice the goofy name, -snthdiueoa, which got locked in
when I first came here just to post some information. I'd tried
many more mellifluous monikers, and just wanted to get something
unique enough to get on.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm a lacto-
vegetarian with a simple, practical
taste in food, emphasizing fresh and organic where it does not
involve too much fuel.
Robert Persig,
Ursula LeGuin, and
J.E. Gordon are my
favourite authors. I listen to more old folk and rock music with
good lyrics than anything else, but that's only half the
collection. I've never owned a TV, but enjoy some
comedy or documentary movies. I like
reading popular articles on psychology,
sociobiology, and related topics.
The six things I could never do without
Air
Water
Shelter
Food
Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and other reference
material.
Meaningful Communication
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Issues around
peace
and
justice.
On a typical Friday night I am
Wondering if I should listen to the re-run of Randy Bachman's show.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have asperger's syndrome. Ie: I'm a nerd, and I don't understand
some social conventions.
