I am hilarious, pragmatic, and awesome.
My Self-Summary
I enjoy sarcasm, silly things, and when random events or moments
instantly change my life forever. I love my friends and my family
very much. I am always seeking more out of life, because I want to
live in such a way that I like myself and have gained prospective
and, hopefully, some sort of wisdom. On the same note, I sometimes
conclude that the wisest person is probably one who acknowledges
that wisdom is fleeting, a little worldly, inaccurate, and
false.
I like indie music. I like to relax just as much as I like to go
out. I do some yoga, I try to live a sustainable lifestyle, I
sometimes paint and enjoy making things with my hands, whether it
be html or handmade greeting cards. I often meet my friends at
coffee shops and look at dumb things online.
Right now am going through a "going to concerts/shows" stage. I am
starting to read again, which I hope will be followed up by writing
again. I feel like I pressed the restart button, and it feels
really good.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working two jobs and learning to relax. I like to drink coffee
and tea, and until recently I was a Master's student of English
Literature. Unfortunately I am not recession proof, hence the
working and not the studying.
I’m really good at
Making people feel better, making people laugh, enjoying bad
television in all its true glory, as well as enjoying myself and
making myself laugh. I am also really bad at some things, but there
isn't a section for that.
The first things people usually notice about me
On a good day they will notice my enormous laugh, it's super loud
and I can't fake it. On any other day, who cares! :)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Dharma Bums, American Elf, The Fuck Up, random Manga (I used
to work for Tokyopop), Ron Currie, Jr., and now Green
Rhetoric.
Movies: Harold and Maude, I Love You, Man really makes me laugh and
so did Role Models. Of course I want to own (500) Days of Summer
when it comes out, and I love any Wes Anderson film there is.
Music: Bon Iver, Local Natives, Bob Dylan, Billie Holiday, Arcade
Fire, Cat Power, The Decemberists, Iron & Wine, She & Him,
Regina Spektor, Au Revoir Simone, Tilly and the Wall, La Roux, and
I can't get enough of Kid Cudi.
Food: Yellow curry, berries, cheese, and french fries.
Television: Flight of the Conchords, How I Met Your Mother,
Arrested Development, Hearts of Nineteen (Korean Drama), and It's
Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Magazines: Giant Robot, Juxtapose, Modern Painter, Yoga Journal,
and anything that looks cute!
Other favorites include: coconut flavored things, sleeping with the
window open while in a cloud-like bed, and I prefer cloudy days
over sunny ones. I also like Takashi Murakami and most of the art
that comes out of the Kaikai Kiki factory.
The six things I could never do without
being creative in some way
singing in the car while driving alone
my family
my friends
some alone time
and the sweet sound of music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Recently I've been thinking about how fear is somehow born out of
our inability to control a situation or circumstance. Also about
cleaning, which I find cathartic, and about doing something
selfless, and about how words are spelled. I am looking into
volunteering for a Literacy program nearby (I have a few options).
In addition, I am scheming up a way to get back into Grad school by
this time next year. And finally, I try to pick through my long
list of goals in life, and figure out which one I will do next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually working, but I would almost always rather be hanging out
with my friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Not much... we'll have to hang out.
You should message me if
You feel so compelled, you strive for more out of life, you are
creative, and if you aren't just looking for casual encounters.
