My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm pretty independent but I would like to share my life with someone. I work, and I like my work. I really enjoy hanging out in the woods; it's something I need to do to be happy. I go to the beach as much as I can. I read a lot, mostly online.
I truly enjoy my child and he is a big part of what I do. Luckily, he is fun and has a quick wit.
I do yoga, garden and try to eat healthy. I'm an INTJ. I am interested in politics and favor the left-leaning. I am not a Democrat per se. I am not into organized religion but I like to explore different ideas of spirituality.
I'd be ok if I never drove a car again, although I just bought a car. It's a paradox, maybe even hypocrisy, I know.
I've spent a bunch of time thinking about things like race/class & gender. I hope that you have spent some time thinking about this, too. It makes for better conversations and more authentic connections.
I am not a big fan of dogs and motorcycles make me nervous. If you like them that's great, but that's not something we will share together.
I'd love to build a house. I'd like to set in a garden and grow soil.
--Please, if you are in a relationship already, do not contact me. I live in Asheville and I am not interested in a long distance relationship.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm working in education. I do it because I like to be with people who are exploring ideas and trying to make better lives for themselves. Plus: other jobs don't let you talk about race, class, gender, politics and the economy all day.
I am raising a fine boy. He's funny and smart and has good manners. He will shake your hand and look you in the eye. That stuff does not happen by accident.
Sometimes, I may be too preoccupied with obtaining and preparing delicious, healthy food.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I explore social issues and encourage critical thinking.
I make the best out of most situations.
I am really good at connecting with children.
I can cook simple, healthy food.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tall :)
People ask me for directions all the time.
I guess I look like I know what I am doing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite book of fiction is Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood. I read mostly non-fiction and read news articles. For fun I am participating in a Coursera class.

I'm not much for movies. Don't know why.

TV: Archer, Vikings on the History Channel. Used to love Mad men. Waiting for more House of Cards.

I like a good funk show. Appalachian music hurts my ears.
Some really good shows I have seen: Les Claypool, The Roots, Jane's Addiction, Parliament, William Elliot Whitmore. I can't wait to camp all weekend at LEAF and see who is there!

When I go to the gym I listen to Parliament Funkadelic or a Ted talk.

Honestly, I would be happy with a steady diet of salad and ice cream, coffee and wine. I am not a vegetarian. Good food is important to me, I eat mostly organic and gluten-free. I use a crock pot. I love to grow food. I wish I had a giant garden. I wish I lived on a farm, though I am not a farmer.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my kid (not really a "thing" but merits top of this list)
coffee
chocolate
my glasses
a toothbrush
good friend or two
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whether I should have another cup of coffee or not.
Social issues and the environment.
But sometimes I just enjoy the sunset and make snarky jokes.
But really, I think too much about the structure of social institutions.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out at a show or maybe a potluck. I like watching movies at the brew n view. I like a mellow Friday night and like to do things on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'd like to find someone who grows food and appreciates compost.
