What I’m doing with my life
Getting to know Los Angeles, working a bit more than I like, riding
my bike a lot, enjoying the sun, looking for community.
I’m really good at
Conversation, listening, adventures, cycling, travel, photography.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not sure; I've never asked. I've been told that I'm articulate
and funny, and that I have intense eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love intelligent fiction (e.g. Barbara Kingsolver, Eliot
Pattison, Laurie King, Anne Perry, Elizabeth George, Charles
Dickens, Philip Pullman, Sherman Alexie, Tony Hillerman, C.J.
Cherryh) and for literary candy, escapist authors like Janet
Evanovich and Dorothy Gilman; I also enjoy non-fiction about the
brain (e.g. Oliver Sacks). For social commentary I really
appreciate Nawal El Saadawi and Arundhati Roy, sometimes Jonathan
Kozol.
On the small screen I watch mostly BBC via Netflix (e.g. Doctor Who, Torchwood, MI-5) and quality American series (The Closer is a particular favorite). On the big screen I enjoy action adventures as well as quirky films (e.g. Strictly Ballroom, Blow Dry) and sometimes comedy or feel good movies. My musical tastes are very mood specific. . . Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Joan Armatrading, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and other artists of my youth are still favorites. I enjoy classic rock in the car, instrumental piano or guitar in quiet moods, and harder rock to sing along to while working. For dancing I like salsa, big band swing, sultry west coast swing, and (true confessions) I've been known to two step to country.
I enjoy most cuisines and will eat almost anything meatless. I've been cooking and baking since I was a kid and enjoy experimenting with foods.

The six things I could never do without
Beauty, music, a sense of adventure, nature, books, a sense of
humor, my daughters' laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Beautiful things I've seen, problems I'm trying to solve, places
I'd like to go, interesting ideas I've heard, books I'm reading,
people I love, the fact that I think too much. I'm fascinated by
the idea that some people can not-think; I want to know how to do
that!
On a typical Friday night I am
Pretty darn tired, but often looking for an opportunity to get my
mind out of work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I do math in my head more often than the average bear, especially
to entertain myself while driving.
I’m looking for
- Girls who like girls
- Ages 40–60
- Near me
- Who are single
- For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You're thoughtful, courageous in relationship, really interested in
knowing and being known by someone else.
