Recovering from having thrown 3 separate wedding parties in different countries.
I'm from Finland, but I moved to Belgium in 2011 to live with dark_turtle. Before that, we only got to hang out a couple of times per year, and that was really getting old.
I'm a graphic designer. Or, to put it more accurately: of all the things I like to do, graphic design is pretty much the only thing that people sometimes pay me for. I also paint occasionally, and my partner and I develop ideas for things like webcomics or board games. Sometimes we get so excited, we almost start working on them for real.
I take pop/jazz singing classes at a nearby music school. I used to do classical singing, but... I didn't quit, exactly, I never wanted to quit, but I'm not doing it actively anymore because reasons.
The next thing I'd like to try is being in a musical, so if you're casting an amateur production of, say, The Phantom of the Opera or My Fair Lady or Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog in English anywhere near my area, do let me know!
Bonus category - I'm really bad at:
Dancing (I've tried!), making decisions, team sports, multitasking. Eliminating distance, which unfortunately is the key to art and meaningfulness and friendship and all such things. I'm working on it.
Airline personnel always seem to know I'm Finnish just by looking at me.
Short and completely random list because I cannot make a proper one: The Reader by Bernhard Schlink, Never Let Me Go and Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
Almost as short and just as random: Little Miss Sunshine, most Miyazaki movies, most Pixar movies, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Coraline, Lost In Translation, The Queen, The King's Speech, The Specials, I Should Watch More Movies
Special favourite shows: The Wire, Sherlock (BBC), Firefly
I also like: almost any BBC mini-series, Battlestar Galactica, Call the Midwife, Avatar: The Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra, Project Runway, Masterchef Australia
Bonus category - Comedy
Shows: The Fast Show, A Bit of Fry & Laurie, Smack the Pony, Parks and Recreation, The Office UK, Flight of the Conchords, The Mighty Boosh, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report
Comedians: Eddie Izzard, Tim Minchin, Simon Amstell, Dylan Moran, Nicholas Cage
I have never been able to make a list of my favourite music in my life, and I'm not about to start now.
Extra bonus category - Computer games
Not that I'm a huge gamer, but I've always liked adventure games: Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Sam & Max etc. I played the LucasArts classics as a kid and the TelltaleGames versions as an adult. We've also recently discovered some new games that I've loved, such as the Blackwell series and Machinarium.
I say "we" because my spouse and I play together. Even when we play something like Bioshock - which I find completely awesome, even though I never thought I'd be interested in games of that genre - it may look like I'm just watching him play, but it feels like we're doing it together.
This question is way too hard. I just love food. I really can't even narrow it down to my favourite cuisines. As long as it's fresh and made with love, I'm happy. I'm an omnivore but I love vegetarian food and try not to cook meat more than a couple of times per week.
