I am somewhere between, grown up, and settled down.

My Self-Summary

for a while, i had a "Picasso" profile up, where i mixed up all the answers to the questions. but, i guess that could have been rather confusing, so i've decided i'll be normal and have a "serious" profile.

to paraphrase Eugene Hutz, there are two types of artists in the world: those who turn 25 and give up because they haven't 'made it', and those who stick it out for rest of their lives. i'm a lifer.

someone famous once said that a good day is one in which you've laughed, you've smiled and you've cried.

i also received some advice a long time ago to "always plan ahead -- that way, you never have to do anything right now."

i belong to my own religion. it doesn't have a name, but the basic philosophy is: live your life such that if everyone lived that way, the world would be a better place. it's not really catching on too quickly, as most people seem to only be concerned with their own short-term interests.

to avoid any confusion, i belong to my own political party as well. it's core philosophy is based on personal integrity, honesty, and basic common sense. the two current major political parties are pretty much the same, just with different advertising. kind of like coke and pepsi. or ford and chevy. it doesn't really make all that much difference who's in power (except in extreme cases, like where someone decides that the Constitution more of a "suggestion").

i would suck if i were ever on a tv dating show.

i am not into ickle durls.

despite what Ferris says, i believe in environmentalism, feminism, impressionism, cubism, pacifism, altruism, realism, capitalism, darwinism, transcendentalism, idealism, optimism, AND pessimism.

i am striving to be an "artist," working for a local airline and hopefully doing some wedding photography to get the bills paid.

What I’m doing with my life

taking pictures of it.

some of those pictures are at my flickr page

I’m really good at

basic addition and subtraction. spelling three-letter words. remembering where i live. oh, wait, i forgot i was being "serious"... so, i'm really good at baking cookies (no, really, that one's not a joke), listening (i can actually listen attentively and not interrupt), drawing.

The first things people usually notice about me

probably that i'm tall. that, or my unusually long eyelashes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

despite the fact that i think it's somewhat disingenuous to define myself by what other people have done creatively, there are some artists that i do tend to favor for entertainment purposes.

Gogol Bordello
"and as the upperdog, leisurely sighing/ the local cultures are dying and dying/ the programmed robots are buying and buying/ and a psycho-load of freaks, they are still trying trying."

The Peacemakers is my favorite local band.
"can you hear the bossa nova? let us sway the night away./ the steps to the dance are best left up to chance,/ better beautiful than perfect, anyway./ and while the moon wanes and waxes,/ death and taxes are lurking out there./ Life is grand, Love is real and Beauty is everywhere."

Tilly and the Wall
"so, i thank the city/ the lives that it's spinning/ the friends that i have/ and the shoes we're not shining/ the drunk horns so violent, all spitting out sounds/ the colors so vibrant, the colors so loud!/ the newly born crying, realizing what life is/ the eyes of my grandfather right before dying."

Townes van Zandt is the best songwriter you've never heard of.
"days, up and down they come/ like rain on a conga drum./ forget most, remember some/ but don't turn none away./ everything is not enough/ and nothin' is too much to bear./ where you been is good and gone/ all you keep's the getting there."

if i could write good music, i would like to write stuff like Elliott Smith, Eef Barzelay, or Van Morrison. then i'd be cool.

F. Scott Fitzgerald
"so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

Wes Anderson, Christopher Guest, Mike Judge...

if you like Maria Bamford, we probably will get along. or (since i've ventured into the realm of coloring outside the lines), Zach Galifianakis, Demetri Martin, Brian Regan, Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Mitch Hedberg, Lewis Black, Jim Gaffigan, Sarah Silverman, Steven Wright, Ralphie May, David Cross, Daniel Tosh, Janeane Garofalo, Kathy Griffin, Wendy Liebman, Kathleen Madigan, Paula Poundstone, Paul Provenza, Robert Schimmel, Lisa Lampanelli, Gabriel Iglesias, Margaret Cho, Dom Irrera, Dave Attell...

The six things I could never do without

things, and stuff. and other things.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

things, and stuff. and other things.

On a typical Friday night I am

i don't know what a typical one is, so here's my last three friday nights:

-assembled a plastic "visible horse" model. difficulty:no instructions.
-dinner with a couple friends, then grocery shopping. does it get any more exciting? i submit that it does not.
-hanging out with friends. kicking ass and taking names. not really taking names... not so much the kicking ass part, either.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i recently topped the 24-hour high score list for the psychologist game, with 1143 points.

You should message me if

if i want you to.
