I am geeky, nerdy, and tired.
My Self-Summary
Hello, my name's Elvis, and I am an odd guy looking for someone to
chit chat with. I'm on this site mainly to find friends to talk
with and once we get to know each other to go out from time to
time. I like to become friends before anything else happens, so
there's always the possibility of a friendship becoming something
more later on.
I work for my step-father's construction company, and I attend the
University of Houston. I'm hoping to begin working towards becoming
a high school math teacher beginning this fall. I like my work, we
do concrete work; foundations, patios, driveways, etc.
A few things that I've come to enjoy quite a bit as of late are
reading a nice book, spending time with my brothers, making
jewelry, playing video games (when I have the time), and learning
languages.
I actually own quite a few games, but due to various reasons, I
tend to not play very rarely.
Languages are interesting to me, but I'm not very good at the ones
that I've begun to learn. I know English and spanish because
they're what I grew up with, but chinese, german, japanese, and
french are all in the beginner phase. I know the grammar and
pronunciation, but what is holding me back is my vocabulary, which
is quite small in those languages. :/
I have a tendency of trying lots of new things just because they
seem remotely interesting. This summer I learned how to play tennis
and the fundamentals for Hatha yoga. I plan on working on both of
these over time. Unfortunately, as of now I don't know anyone who
plays tennis nor does yoga. :(
What I’m doing with my life
Work and school seems to be the bulk of life lately, but I do not
mind. Like I said before, I want to work towards being a high
school math teacher teaching algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus,
and calculus.
I’m really good at
Nothing that I really know of. I dabble in a few things here and
there. I tend to be a bit like a jack-of-all-trades, good/okay with
quite a bit, but rarely great at it.
I've been told that I'm good listener, and that I'm more
responsible than most people my age, which I find rather peculiar.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair. Have it on my face and the stuff on my head is near my
natual waist line, a.k.a. bellybutton, I think it may be longer
now.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
(A) Currently I am reading a couple Ray Bradbury stories, he's a
wonderful author. My taste in books is all over the place. I tend
to randomly pick books in different genres. The last books that I
finished were the His Dark Materials trilogy, it was an interesting
read.
(B) Some of the movies that I really like are Princess Bride,
Beauty and the Beast, Serenity, Pixar movies, and the Die Hard
series. The newest movie that I last went to see was 9, which I
found to be rather awesome. Unfortunately, I rarely have anyone to
go see movies with, so I tend to usually see movies years after
they've come out, if at that.
I do tend to watch anime more than movies though. My favorite
series are Card Captor Sakura, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and
Dragonball (Note: not Z nor GT). Recently I finished watching
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and I must say it has become my all
time favorite anime. :P
(C) I don't watch a whole lot of actual television. I have a
tendency of buying a series and just watching it when I have the
time instead. My favorite series would have to be Firefly, Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Stargate: SG-1, and Terminator: The
Sarah Connor Chronicles. I lean more towards sci-fi, obviously, but
I'll watch pretty much anything if it's put in front of me.
(D) Spanish stuff (flamenco), techno/ trance/ dance (the last one
is funner when you have a partner), a little rock and roll, j-pop
(it helps with my japanese studies, kind of) and Classical. I'll
give most music a try, but I have a tendency to not like music that
repeats the same lyrics over and over again.
(E) I love practically anything, spicy is nice, just not every
meal, and I'm not a huge fan of sweet things.
(F) My favorite video games tend to mostly be RPGs, but I like
games from all genres, rhythm is another favorite. Final Fantasy is
nice, but I like Xenosaga quite a bit more. There is also Wild
ARMs, DDR, the Tales series (Tales of the Abyss is a magnificent
game), and pretty much any quirky game that Atlus decides to bring
over.
The six things I could never do without
My family, my puppies, my friends, Dalilah (my Wrangler), hugs, and
books.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My mind tends to wander a lot, and I end up thinking about a
variety of things ranging from work to friends to video games to
the world around me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually, I'm at work on Fridays, so my nights consist of me coming
home, showering, and maybe get some chores done before it is time
to sleep.
On the nights that I get home early I like to work on whatever
jewelry project that I'm currently working on or if someone is
available I'll either go out or stay in hanging out with
them.
I tend to mostly be a home body most of the time, but, if possible,
I'm always up for a night on the town.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I've come to realize that most of my personality awards are pretty
accurate, except for the artistic one. I may not be the best
jeweler out there, but I think I'm atleast half decent at coming up
with interesting concepts.
I'm basically an open book. If you ask I'll be more than willing to
answer pretty much anything.
You should message me if
You found something interesting in my tiny profile, want to play
some tennis, have some company while doing a bit of yoga or if you
just want to chit chat.
Making new friends is always fun. :)
