My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm the kind of person who gets a kick out of filing access to information requests with the government, and who also eagerly flips to the back of a non-fiction book to read the endnotes.

I have a great group of friends from different parts of my life. Many of them I see on regular basis, whether it's playing soccer or at pub trivia. I enjoy witty banter and pretty nerdy discussions about things like politics and economics.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Career-wise I'm a former investment analyst-turned freelance business journalist and writer. I still love following the markets but have no regrets about leaving Bay St. My favourite things to write about involve the intersection of finance and society.

I live on my own in a great apartment downtown and appreciate this city more than I ever have. Last fall a friend asked me to volunteer for a municipal election campaign and I'm glad I did. Not only did I meet some great people I now count as friends, it exposed me to a part of Toronto I otherwise would not have encountered in my daily routine.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Doing impressions of people
Ping Pong
Getting a lot of stuff done after procrastinating for a while
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, When Genius Failed: The Rise and Fall of Long Term Capital Management, The Beekeeper's Apprentice (apparently I like books with the word apprentice...)
Movies: Forrest Gump, Office Space, Inside Job, Shawshank Redemption, Philadelphia, (I'm clearly a candidate for Stuff White People Like...)
Food: My brother introduced me to a certain Indian restaurant a few years ago and it's still the best.
Music: K'Naan, Pearl Jam, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift (this is your chance to make fun of me), Kelly Clarkson, the Killers
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Hot Docs
Current events
Second City
My family's dog
Tea
International hockey tournaments
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How long the housing bubble might last, Whether we've got enough players for Sunday soccer this week (I'm the organizer), the irony that the best news now tends to come from shows like John Oliver's, the shocking amount of (visible) poverty in a country as wealthy as Canada
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
This is the first time in a while I haven't been playing ball hockey on Fridays. Having switched that to Thursdays, I'm now able to see friends or just relax.

You've still got a healthy amount of idealism in you.
