My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Please Note: I am currently living in France, will not be back in Seattle until July of next year. Please see below for why the hell my profile is even active right now.

Anyway, at heart, I’m a biologist, and that's not just what I've chosen for a career—it's more of a personal philosophy, I see the world with blue-green glasses. Biology is everywhere, and it fascinates me. I love being surrounded by things that are living, growing, changing, an adapting. I have a window garden and marine aquarium that keep me in touch with the day to day minutia of life: new leaves, opening buds, daily cycles, etc.

I am, of course, an active participant in biology myself, and being alive is probably my favorite activity, followed closely by kayaking, snorkeling, and eating chocolate. I hike in the wilderness, cook an excellent mushroom gratin, and press flowers/algae/mushrooms. I also dabble in jewelry making and amateur wildlife photography and have a nice collection of interesting things I found at sea or on beaches—scallop shells, urchins, shark teeth, otoliths, etc.

Creativity is important to me, and I prefer to always have a project to work on. When I need to figure something out, I go to a hardware store and wonder around until I solve it. I'm also a fan garden stores and Ikea (that place is huge, and Swedish). I enjoy sharing and discussing ideas, particularly feminism, gender identity, and environmental issues.

I am independent, a tad quirky, and have little concern for being "normal". That person carrying a fig tree on the bus--yeah, that's me :)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Grad school in Brest, France. I'm studying marine biology, and doing everything in French. This has been a dream of mine for years, and I'm pretty pleased with myself for actually doing it.

That said, the social scene in Brest is less than ideal, and the dating scene is worse. Not only do the French dating sites not measure up to Okupid, there simple aren't as many people here to meet. This is why I reactivated my profile: to remind myself that the world still has lots of awesome singles waiting to be met.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Growing things, moving around water, finding cool stuff to do on a boat, fitting everything into my duffel bag, eating wild berries, making custom gifts from things I found on the beach/in the woods/underwater, applying math and science to mundane tasks, and organizing.

Also, if you own a fireplace, I can build you the perfect fire. It's really kinda dreamy :)

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Usually one of the things I'm good at (see above), that's why I'm good at them :) And what to eat--a good meal can make my day.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I've already put Lady Gaga on my favorites list, you should be satisfied with that.

You are smart, interesting, independent, and have a passion for language, art, wilderness, or something ending in –ology.

Or, you want to date a Frenchman, but don't want to eat snails. I do a very good accent and can whisper sweet French nothings in your ear :)
