Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I retired in July 2011 and am enjoying this phase of my life.
Waking up to natural daylight beats waking up to an alarm clock.
I'm thankful for being able to reach this stage of my life and look
forward to making my retirement years meaningful and creative.
Sharing this stage of my life with someone special would be the
icing on the cake.
Since retiring, I've done some volunteering. Most recently, I
participated in a tax assistance program that helped lower income
individuals and the elderly in filing their tax returns for
I've also reconnected with some creative activities that I enjoyed
in my youth. I do some sewing for a charity that gives dolls to
children in pediatric hospitals. I also enjoy other crafts. I enjoy
nature and participate on hikes with a great group of people.
Together, we explore different Bay Area trails.
I am a soft spoken person who is warm and caring with an easy going
personality. I'm very supportive and loyal to friends and family. I
value honesty and believe that trust and open communication are
important factors in making a relationship work. I have a quiet
strength about me. I always try to put a positive spin on
situations that may not always be rosy.
I hope to meet someone who is intelligent, upbeat, and who has a
sense of humor. Sincerity and unpretentiousness are also nice
qualities that I hope to find in that special someone. I have room
in my life for the right man. In the words of John Legend's song
"All of Me", I want to be able to say to him "All of me loves all
of you - your edges and your perfect imperfections. Give your all
to me, I'll give my all to you. Risking it all, though it is
Although we may never completely know each other's perspective, I
would hope that we would learn not to take our differences and
opinions so seriously and open up with each so we can gain a better
understanding and reach an even greater commitment to one
People often comment that I'm always smiling - I have to admit that
I do like to smile. Life is comprised of both high and low moments
- sharing all those moments with that special someone is something
I am looking forward to.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm trying out a variety of activities that I hope will prove to be
both meaningful and creative. During tax season, I volunteer in a
tax assistance program which prepares returns for seniors and low
income individuals. I've also been involved in a sewing project
that provides dolls to children in pediatric hospitals. I'm lucky
to be able to be physically active. In 2012, I joined a great
hiking group - we explore trails in different parts of the Bay
Area. I've found it to be a great way of engaging in conversation
with interesting people as well as viewing all the natural beauty
that our area has to offer.
I also enjoy learning new things whether it be through books or
lectures. I'm also working on recovering my rusty French - I'm
attending a weekly conversational class which has proved to be
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm really good at listening and am concerned with the welfare of
others in addition to my own welfare. I guess what I'm trying to
say is that I make the extra effort to be considerate of others.

I read primarily fiction but do enjoy some nonfiction as well. I
like contemporary music, music from the 70s - 90s, and jazz. I like
most music but have never gained an appreciation for rap music. I
like to cook and enjoy eating healthy food. After all, as our
mothers used to say, we are what we eat!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My family, my friends, good food, good books, good music, and, very
importantly, someone to share all of this with. (Also have to say
that I can't give up my love of chocolate.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I try not to worry about too many things but rather try to go with
On a typical Friday night I am

Having a nice dinner and catching up on my reading.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was very shy in my younger days - and some of this carries over
to the present.
